Hi - I originally thought it was edited because of time constraints - a 75 minute film shown in a 1-hour TV time-slot. However, as I searched the internet, there seems to have been a concern in the late 1980s that characters in the film, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, resembled mogoloids and that their presence may be insulting to audiences. From what I remember from this airing (I used to have it on tape, but no longer), the characters were cut significantly from the film, while the rest of it remained pretty much intact. Also, the characters were removed from Disney parks until the mid-1990s (source: http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief1/b/jim_hill/archive/2011/10/28/why-for-were-tweedle-dum-amp-tweedle-dee-banned-from-the-disney-theme-parks.aspx?PageIndex=2). Although Jim Hill says the characters weren't cut out of the film, their scene was trimmed down considerably when the film aired on TV in 1987 and 1990. I'm really hoping someone out there taped it.
