        		 It was sort of a satire of sit-com families with a dumb dad, in the first 3-4 seasons and worked pretty well. After that, it spun into a satire of its own characters. Joe's first episode was a build up of him being a hero supercop, while dealing with a handicap and now the only dialogue he has is about crapping himself.

          		 I don't bother with it anymore because I've seen so many episodes already but I remember loving it in the late-90s along with Futurama and maybe a little King of the Hill even though I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now. I think at this point people have connected with the characters and art style that the writers don't have to work too hard on the writing for people to watch. The same thing happened with The Simpsons.

              		 I haven't liked it since they got rid of Cleveland. The Cleveland Show is all kinds of horrible.

                        		 Personally, the worst of Family Guy started after the episode "Family Gay". It really started taking a turn for the worse when Brian started being an atheist. It's not that it is the atheism that ruined the show, but he quickly became a liberal prick and Seth MacFarlane seemed to use him as a tool to stimulate his liberal atheistic mind to the point where it wasn't even comedy anymore and just a "Grinds My Gears" segment.

                        It did, however, get much better when "Road to the North Pole" aired (though the scene with the child was a bit too far), and has been uphill since.
