About the quality of the show, the excessive cutaway jokes are only ONE of the reasons why the quality dropped once it was brought back in 2005. Another being that the personalities of some of the characters were changed (such as Stewie not being as evil).

SSJ Jup81 2 years 9 months ago Posts: 4806	Personally, the main changes I do dislike are the ones involving the unnecessary Meg bashing and the fact that Lois and Peter act like crappy parents now. In the beginning, they acted like they loved all of their children and would do anything for their family...now both are so terribly selfish and doesn't seem to give a crap at all about them, especially Meg. I will still never understand why they had them change so drastically. You know, the same goes for Cleveland's character. Ever since his character got his own show, I've started to dislike his character. He acts like a douche now to me compared to how he was on Family Guy. The only character that's probably consistent on FG now is Quagmire (even though his hatred of Brian came from out of nowhere) and Joe. Hm, what else...well, I still find the fact that Brian goes with humans just plain weird, unlike the early seasons where Brian had an attraction to other dogs.

199478q29 2 years 9 months ago Posts: 205 Account Disabled	Thank you all for your comments you guys had some pretty interesting stuff to say i agree & disagree here I think the 1999-2002 Family guy was funny Stewie was not gay Peter yes he was dumb like always but with some smarts & the fact that they are bad parents now & Bryan is a nut job who will not shut the truck up & also Peter use to care for his family but now he does not & i am seeing more blood & gore on the show to & Chris is a angry teenager that is trying to kill his dad so those are what i see wrong with family guy today the only thing that is apart of the new Family Guy that is close to being good is when peter sings surffin Bird by the trashmen.

Thylacine 2 years 9 months ago Posts: 1525	I think it suffers from Simpson-itis, in which the first half was funny, then somewhere in the middle, it started losing steam and never managed to quit get it back. Although a few episodes may have that old steam, it's not quite the same.

stake n sheak 2 years 9 months ago Posts: 1772	When something is funny once, like "Meg bashing" or ten minute fights with a giant chicken it's easy to fall into a trap of doing it many more times. It's also hard to keep being funny but some people don't want to stop milking a cash cow. TV shows should not always go on forever, especially when characters can't age. Good stories are more difficult when so many things have already been done.

199478q29 2 years 9 months ago Posts: 205 Account Disabled	Echidna64 The simpsons in my opinion is still funny but yes looking at both the old & the new the newer ones are not as good as the old but they always come up with something new just recently Ren & Stimpy creator John K. did a couch gag for a simpsons episode & that was EPIC evan though the Simpsons & Ren & Stimpy do not fit together so i am sorry its always gonna be better then Family guy.

Take the character of Joe. His introduction to the show was the fact that he was a local hero and didn't let his disability stop him. Now he's like treated worse than Meg.
