I first heard about the original Playstation in an issue of GamePro magazine during the summer of '95 (a month before I entered the fourth grade). Although it looked cool, it didn't hold my interest, compared to the Sega Saturn and (especially) the N64, which came later. But after watching the "movie trailer"-like commercial for FF7 on TV, I REALLY wanted one!
It wasn't until the summer of 2000 (after graduating from 8th grade) when I finally bought a PS with my birthday money (I would've purchased one sooner, but my mom didn't permit it). Not only did I have enough money to buy the console and a memory card, but I was also able to get one game: "Jackie Chan: Stuntmaster", which was surprisingly fun!
Not too long after, my mom bought me FF8 (as a late birthday present) and I played it constantly for days and weeks on end - until I got stuck at that dumb bitch, Sorceress Adel at Lunatic Pandora (disc 4). Nevertheless, it still proved to be one of my favorite FF titles of all time, despite its insane difficulty!
Eventually, I bought FF7 near the end of the summer (two weeks before entering high school) and completed it really fast! Of course, it became another favorite FF title of mine! Since then, I've loved ALL of Sony's PS consoles (including the PSP, I've yet to get a Vita).
Today, I own an 80gb backwards-compatible PS3 (plays both PS1 and PS2 games), which is hooked up to my new 47" HD-TV. The library of games for the PS3 are excellent, but I especially enjoy the fact that you can purchase and play the original PS CLASSICS (most for $10 or under) from the Playstation Store! |
