Maybe Final Fantasy 7 is not the best game in the series but it is hard to argue that it is not the most popular of the FF games and jump started the RPG flood on the Playstation.

At the time I had never played a game that felt so epic as FF7. The commercials for the game are what drew me in, showing the best of the cut scenes and none of the game play (trick move Square). It was the reason I bought a Playstation.

Too be honest though it took me a little while into the game before I thought it was so great. I mean it started out cool with the reactor and all that but it wasn't until the motorcycle scene escaping the Shin-Ra building that I was blown away. After an exciting highway chase and battle, seeing the group stand at the edge of city about to embark on the their adventure the game had me hooked.

I rarely play it anymore these days but I will sometimes check out the commercials for it on YouTube for a nostalgic kick.

I was a little late in getting to know the final fantasy games, the first one I have ever played was the first one for the nes, and it wasn't until Final fantasy 9 came out that I actually stated to get into the series. I have a soft spot for 9 in particular because it's the first of the playstation ones I've played. I agree, 7 was a fun game, and to a lesser degree, so was 8. So far I have played Final fantasy 1,a bit of 2, a large amount of 3, a bit of 4, a large amount of 6,7,8,9,10, and 10 2.

Edit: Sorry, I just now noticed that there was a 7 at the end of the title

love it, I have so many memories playing this game, some of my favorite parts were; dressing in drag to get into Don Corneo's mansion, sneaking aboard the shinra cargo ship, landing in Costa Del Sol (love that place), The Gold Saucer (of course), Rocket Town (Cid's home, can't remember what it's called exactly) and many more. What a great game.

You know, they do alot of remakes of classic video games these days. They should do an epic remake of final fantasy 7 with modern graphics. Graphics are the only part of this game that don't stand the test of time. I'd definetly play that shit if they did.

I bought it on PSN and have played through twice semi recently, i don't even mind the graphics myself, they're sort of nostalgic for me now and the backgrounds are beautiful, it's hard to believe it's a psx game sometimes when just looking at the backgrounds. Glad everyones not an ff7 hater it's one of the most polarizing games ever i'd say

The only Final Fantasy game I played was 10. It was amazing. I will probably never play another again though. WAAAY to much of a time and effort obligation for a video game. When I beat FF10, I didn't feel the normal euphoric feel of beating a hard game. I felt like I finished a year long book report.

Who needs Final Fantasy when you have the vastly superior Dragon Warrior?

Wow, I did not realize how ironic that was with my avatar until after I posted.

I think it's overrated as hell. But then again, I never played it since I don't have a PlayStation. I've always loved their artwork, though. Elegant, beautiful, and breathtaking.

i Still prefer the older 2D FF games. FF6 (FF3) is my favorite. I can't get into FF7 due to the terrible graphics. I'm waiting for a remake.

                        Loved FF7 and I also loved FF9. 10 and 8 were alright. 12 sucked.

The only ones I really ever played were 7 and 10. And as overrated as 7 might be, its still a great game.

Love it. And it was my first ever experience with a deep RPG. A friend of my dad's actually won a copy through some contest (it was either Pepsi or Coca-Cola, can't remember). And since his son was grown and didn't care about video games and his grandkids were too young for it, he gave it to me.

Say what you want about the graphics, but I remember being absolutely wowed by that opening video. Sure the actual gameplay graphics weren't even in the same ballpark but they were good enough for my 13 year old self. Honestly, graphics have never been that high on my radar anyway. Sure I'd prefer awesome graphics but gameplay and story have always been much more important to me.

Anyway, back to the game. I remember playing it for about an hour before becoming insanely frustrated and giving up. I had just never played a game like this before and everything was so foreign to me. I wrote it off as a dud, or at least "not my thing". But when I continually kept reading rave reviews of the game I figured I should give it another go. There had to be something I was missing.

And I am sooooo glad that I did give it another chance. After a couple of frustrating hours I finally "got it" and I. Was. Hooked. I remember feeling extremely satisfied after beating it as, again, I had never played anything that deep in my entire life up to that point.

I plan to DL it from PSN at some point (when I have A LOT of free time) and give it another run-through.

Oh, and IX was lots of fun too.

FF VII sparked my interest in not only RPGs and the PS1 as my only source of entertainment, but of anime and Japanese pop culture. I spent probably 3 months playing it the year it came out and still haven't beat it. The only other FF games I got into were III, X and Mystic Quest. I've played them all, but they're too hard.

Wasn't there test footage of an HD remake or something? I would shell out good dollars for a gorgeous update.

nope, it was just a tech demo to test the ps3's graphical hardware. it's been confirmed that no such remake will be worked on due to how much work is put into the environments and such

They are stupid to not remake it. No matter how much time and money it takes, they will profit soo much. I can guarantee it would be their most successful and purchased game of all time. Maybe even THE most purchased game of all time.
