Back in my days of spending a lot of time in the arcade...
...I remember a few games that just ate my tokens one after another...
Escape From the Planet of the Robot Monsters. I spent oodles of tokens playing it... but in the end, it took me just ONE token to finally beat it from start to finish!
Hit-the-Ice... you always had to put more tokens in there to get a full period, and even more for some juice.
Smash TV... you die so quick sometimes, but luckily one day a kid showed me on the back of the machine how to just hit a button & get credits! Man, I remember racking up 20+ credits and just playing thru... still not making that far beyond stage 2 *sigh*
STUN Runner... I just couldn't help loving the game 'cause it was one I was pretty good at from stage 1 getting to stage 7 w/ out any problems & racking up a good score.
Klax... addicted to the game, I knew the tricks on how to rack up a high-score, so every time, it was a manditory credit for that.
Assault... another one I just kept playing & playing. I loved the whole sound of the game, the scaling & rotation looked snazzy at the time, and it was unique how it controlled...
...most of those mentioned, I played one-token-at-a-time except "Escape..." and "Hit-the-Ice"... but all of 'em ate a LOT of money from me... and I didn't have that much at the time since a paper-route was my source of income! |
