SNES just does not have the processing capability to do a lot of cool graphical tricks that are in DKCR. But here's something I read I think we could both agree on.

Nintendo is a frustrating company. What's sad is that we can't even call them greedy. Hell, if they were greedy, we'd have tons of great games being made. Instead, they are stupidly selfish. Nintendo is becoming a vanity company. All vanity, all the time. Me, me, me. I can't dig up everything right now (there is a lot) but this Malstrom guy frequently makes claims like that Nintendo is making games that cater to the director's ego, instead of what players want. People want more 2D Mario but Miyamoto doesn't want to make another one (despite the wild success of NSMB Wii) and Aonuma has effectively ruined the Legend of Zelda series. I agree with him on those points even though I like the controls of Skyward Sword.
Anyway I think this is also relevant to the redesigned Wii. It's not what the customers want, it's what Nintendo wants. And this is why their sales have floundered ever since the N64, with the exception of a brief period of a couple of years when the Wii was new. During which time casual games and shovelware were the movers. That interest is gone now. And in that way, I do see what you darthmunk mean when you say they should make systems for their old fans and not new customers. Earlier, I thought about your statement in a different way.
