To me that is completely unacceptable for a Zelda game. Finally at this point things seem to be looking better. The beginning portion of any game can be the make it or break it and I wonder how many people will put down the game due to the tedious beginning. It's not unacceptable to me.
I can understand wanting to get on with the game but part of the series that I enjoy is exploring and admiring the world. But LoZ is always an epic, right? I get it when cutscenes are too long but I didn't feel the same way in this game. I rather like exploring the new world in each game and taking my time. If I finish a game in 20 hours or less, I kinda feel ripped off! "I paid $30-50 for this and it's over already? That's bullshit."
Wasn't the beginning of Ocarina tedious? I found it that way, a little bit. I was willing to put up with it and I'm glad I did because it's a major contribution to the series mythology. But at the time of my first play it really dragged for me. I didn't have such a problem with Twilight Princess but my girlfriend who was watching did. She was all "ugh when is something gonna happen, this is boring."

I don't think so. Everybody still says Ocarina is the best. Definitely, nobody was calling TP better, nor WW. This time around there are some "10/10"s and "masterpiece"s being lobbed about.
This is where I usually read short reviews for new games:

They definitely don't call it the best ever, but I wonder if it might be. They call the motion plus control a "shameful...unnecessary handicap" but it feels really natural and good to me. I mean I like it to the point where I'm wondering if I'll ever be able to enjoy the older 3D games as much without it. But it does seem to be very subjective unfortunately. Maybe they could have done a better job for some people but I really don't see how this game would work at all without extensive motion controls, unless they just made the enemies simpler and dumber. Also a lot parts where you have to activate something would not work the same way, if at all.
I think that part of OoT's legacy as the best is that it was so new at its time, that it's impossible for anything else to have as big an impact within the constraints of current technology. Each taken on their own merits, I am having more fun in SS than I [remember having] in OoT.
