So some idiot on eBay gave me a broken copy of Sonic Adventure, that he deemed was in "Very Good" condition. I spent nine bucks on the thing, and when i put it in my Dreamcast, it doesn't even run. Just pisses me off because i waited a long time for the game to arrive. Has this ever happened to any of you, where you get something that doesn't work at all, even when you try to fix it?

I asked for a refund from him and got my money back in the mail just today. But still, it just shows that some people can piss you off by selling you something and saying that its in "Very Good" condition.

I'm sure the seller didn't do that intentionally to get over on you. It probably did work, but maybe got damaged in shipping.

As long as you pay with PayPal (which Ebay pretty much forces you to), you'll be covered no matter what...whether the item arrives broken or doesn't arrive at all.

Was there a picture of the item or a description besides the fact that it was listed as very good? You could have also asked if there were any scratches.

Also, you could have just got the disc repaired somewhere, it costs a dollar. Another thing to look into, depending on what model your Dreamcast is, you may be able to just download and burn games for it. My Dreamcast can play burnt games without being modded because it's an early model.

That happens to me one time as seller. The item was NIB in its original package. The buyer told me it didn't work and the package was pretty "dent near the logo of the carton". Wich happens to be the fragil parts.

The problem with all this is the minute you send the package you don't know if its going to be properly handed. Most of the time they don't.

I've only used ebay once in my life, and that was two years ago to purchase a brown leather coin pouch. It took about a month for it to be mailed, especially the fact that the merchant was really in China and not in Canada as I originally thought.

I've bought several items on ebay, mostly (vinyl) records and a couple of CD's, and they all arrived in good to excellent condition. Last summer (2010) I bought a 1987-vintage Kenwood A/V receiver, which sounds great and really "kicks" when you turn it up, but the only (hopefully minor) issue I have with it, is that the right speaker channel has a tendency cut out occasionally, and would come back on when I increase the volume or slap the side of the receiver.

at least you got your money back, not like they told you to "go fuck yourself"

I've bought tons of items on ebay, myself and lucky, I never really had a problem.

One of the things I would advise anyone to do when using ebay is to check out the feedback score of the seller, there's a reason Ebay has that, if the seller has anything less than say 97%, for me, I stay away from them.

eBay is only as good as those who sell stiff through it :)
