Obviously, video games have changed a LOT since the days of Pac-Man, but for the most part, games are still fairly one-dimensional experiences, more like a rollercoaster ride than a movie or a book, which make you feel genuine emotions and actually think about real-world matters.

I am not sure how many of you have heard the term serious gaming before, but I think it is something worth exploring. The problem with these games - which explore hard hitting issues, like workers rights, genocide and media sensationalism - is that almost all of them are free-ware titles. Granted, there are several games that sort of tackle ongoing modern issues - like GTA V, the next Bioshock title, and the PS3 game Papa Y Yo - but for the most part, games are STILL sort of stuck in this vacuum where they refuse to comment, analyze or assess what is really going on in the world.
So when - if ever - do you think we will start seeing games that at least ATTEMPT to tackle actual subject matters (and not in an exploitative way, like all of those Enduring Freedom games that came out during the last console cycle)?
