Do you think that Xbox 360's Kinect is the wave of the future? Obviously, it's proving to be so.

I think they were just jumping on the motion control band wagon. To me, it looks more like a novelty item as does the playstation move.

Eh, no controllers? Sound like work, not video games. Just another Illuminati conspiracy to cut back obesity.

Well... I was hoping it would actually be more like 'Project Natal', and less like 'Kinect'.

Kinect turned out to be a whole lot of gimmick with a whole lot of flaws. It has troubles sensing you. Can't pick up body motion sometimes, problems if you get too close or go too far, problems recognizing speech, and the biggest issue... LAG! It's not true 1:1. It comes close on a few games, but it's not true 1:1.

Project Natal, OTOH, showed us all these gimmicks which got us excited. The 'Milo' demo, which was interesting just because of the sheer interaction of a virtual character, along with some of the splash canvas paintings showed 1:1 interactions with true voice recognitions and close-ups that were as far away as a few inches!

I hope that's a step into the future what the NEX-Box will bring us because even a firmware update won't bring us the Natal expreience to the Kinect.

I like the Kinect, but it's nothing better than what Gunstringers & Child of Eden can bring us.

They need to integrate the controller & motion into 1, it's the only way it's going to get world-wide acceptance.

I've had Kinect since before it came out (I got to beta test it) and I haven't used it since then... Maybe the occasional game demo or two. But overall, it's just not fun to use. who wants to move to play games?

Wasn't there another video game invention where the person was the controller? I believed it was known as the EyeToy.

...not even close. That's like comparing apples with pomegranates.

The eye-toy from the PS2 is the same type of camera used with the PS-Move. It just looks back at you & your reflection. Just about all of the games made use out of staring at yourself on-screen in some fashion. Whether it be full-screen with some interactive characters or making a design... or a smaller bubble, you were always staring right back at yourself in some fashion.

The only relation those 2 had is that it achieved (or tried to...) the sense of your body motions with the arms/legs, but it wasn't an interactive controller in any sense of the form, just a smart-camera.

I sure hope not. I prefer sitting down and playing a game through controller, let alone doing it through "motion" which is exhausting after a while.
