For those New Jerseyans out there, and anyone else in the Northeast that likes visiting Jersey... a new arcade called "Yestercades" just opened recently in Red Bank, NJ (home to director Kevin Smith, and neighbors Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen). This arcade has ALL retro games... including the following favorites:

    Donkey Kong
    Pac-Man
    Asteroids
    Double Dragon
    Space Invaders
    Galaga
    Pole Position
    Defender
    Dig Dug
    Wrestlefest
    Gauntlet
    Popeye
    Donkey Kong Jr.
    Frogger
    Mario Bros
    TMNT
    Simpsons
    Operation Wolf
    Rolling Thunder

    and plenty more!

I'm just trying to get the word out there to 80s arcade fans on here that live on this side of the country. If you do, come visit the place and tell your friends! I have been there twice so far and it's awesome! The games are all on free play, and they just charge you for how long you are there. Here is the link to the website:

And here are links to youtube videos related to it:

They are also on Facebook so LIKE them! I'm just trying to get the word out because I want it to do well. :-D

Oh I forgot to mention it also has areas where they have old consoles like Nintendo, Atari, Genesis and Colecovision connected to a TV so you can play various games for them while sitting on a couch they provide. Awesome!

Nobody likes visiting Jersey lol. We have a pretty sick retro/semi-new arcade out here in Portland, Oregon. It's called ground control. They have every good old school arcade game I could even think of plus an entire upstairs area devoted to nothing but pinball machines. And the best part is, it's a "Barcade", a bar and an arcade.

You make it sound like it's a gaming paradise.

There needs to be a retro arcade in the Chicago area. That would be great.

Hmm, bout a 2 hour drive. Looks cool. I sort of like small arcades though. Not big ones.

New Jersery? That's probably half way through the country where I live, I'm not wasting time to get there. Besides, I'm working 4 days a week.

Besides I'll probably just play the pinball machines and I'm sure there's somewhere in my city that has a pinball area.

There's an excellent arcade in Tacoma, WA (about 40 minutes south of Seattle) called "Dorky's". Yes the name is very odd, but I'm willing to bet it's one of the best arcades in the entire country. They have pretty much every retro arcade game ever made there, and plenty of modern games too.

Here's a video from Pat "The NES" Punk about it. He went to Dorky's when he was recently in Seattle for PAX:

I've heard of Barcade, and Dorkys looks pretty awesome. But sadly we don't have those over here. This place is as close to retro as we can get! The grand opening of the place is this Saturday 11/12 (it had a "soft" open already). So Jersey people or visitors come on out!

They are only charging $15 for the whole day, plus raffles to give away PS3, Wii, and even an Atari! Ha! Can't wait. And if they do well enough, hopefully they'll add a bar like Barcade at some point. But Red Bank has bars all over town so it's pretty easy to go to a bar then stumble into Yestercades (I've done that already in fact). =)
