I have been trying to find info on this for years, but with no luck.
Back in the late 80s, the local library had an appleII computer (might have been IIe or IIc or whatever, I don't know) for the public to use. They had a software library to choose from, which (strangely) I recall as being microsoft brand. I'm not 100% certain on that point though, it may have been some bran with a similar looking name. This software library came in volumes, and each volume was a plastic case with multiple floppies in it. Each floppy usually had multiple seperate programs on it, and you looked at the box to see which prog you wanted to use & thus which disk to put in. These were self-booting disks (ie, you turned the comp off, inserted the disk, then turned the comp back on).
Out of these programs, there were 2 that stood out, and I've been trying to find the names of them for years, in the hopes of emulating them so I can play them again. I'm hoping now that someone here might recognize them & know the names.

game 1) This was an illustrated text adventure game. The plot was that you fell asleep while doing your mythology homework. You then dremt that you were taking part in some of the myths. IIRC, you had to perform the labors of hercules. I remember that you had to get the golden fleece, and that you had to capture or groom or something the pegasus.

game 2) This was also a sort of illustrated text adventure game, but was much more puzzle focused. In this one you were trying to escape from an alien planet or something (I don't recall the plot really, it was just background fluff), to achieve this you had to use pseudo-chemistry. You had a chemistry kit that you filled up with "elements" you found during your travels in the game (and had to go back to previous scenes to re-fill sometimes, especially while experimenting), and you would mix some of these "elements" together to make things to solve the puzzles.
One such puzzle that I remember was mixing "arium" and "rubberium" together to make a balloon for a bored troll.

        YES!!! Thank you!
The series was indeed microzine, and thatnks to that I was able to find the title of the chemistry one for certain, and possibly the mythology one. The chemistry one was "mission: mix-up", and the mythology looks like it may have been "the myths of olympus".

I'm trying to find out that game where this green creature eats words from the English Vocabulary. If he's wrong, he loses a life...and if he gets eaten by a Purple Monster...he loses a life.

That sounds like one of the ones in the "... munchers" series. We had a number munchers one. Does this look like it?
