Last night while listening to music on my PS3, it shut off and now I can't get it to come back on. I can no longer turn the system on with the controller and when I attempt to turn it on at the console, it briefly comes on then immediately shuts of with 3 rapid beeps, with the red LED flashing on and off. What could've happened and what could I do to troubleshoot the issue and get it working again??? My PS3 is about 3 years old and it's not heavily used and hasn't been subject to rough handling (dropped, bumped, etc.), so I highly doubt it's a "wear and tear" issue. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

I'm not sure about overheating. I still can't get it to work and I've had it shut off by the power switch in the back since last night. None of the ventilation openings are blocked, and I have it on a shelf in my TV stand, where you would normally put a DVD player, VCR, receiver, etc.. Maybe I'll pull it out to see if it could be dust build-up and give it a good blowing out. I'm just hoping it's something I can fix myself without having to send it out to be serviced or buy a new one, since I currently can't afford doing neither.

Have you done anything new recently with it or was it just the usual gaming/etc?

I called Sony and I will have to send it in (to Sony) to be fixed at a cost of $99.00. I also have the option of taking it to GameStop and trading it towards a new PS3, but since there is a disc in the drive that won't eject, they can't take it. I would have to find some way to "fish" the disc out if I decide to trade it for a new system.
