Although the GameGear had much better graphics than the original GameBoy, there two major problems with it. First, the battery life is lousy. Plus, it didn't have that many games. The original GameBoy's graphics weren't that good, but it had good battery life, and it had a lot more games. So, I would choose the original GameBoy. Which system would you choose?

For me, I'd take the old-school Game Boy. I had a friend who borrowed a Game Gear from one of his friends, and never really liked it. Talk about having to buy a lot of batteries for the Game Gear (six batteries to power that thing for five hours), not worth it in my votes.

a few people that i knew from school thought of the gamegear as "the original gameboy advance" because of its graphics, but i stuck with the gameboy and gameboy color. with 600 games in the library, it easily tops the gamegear

Back in the day I had a gamegear, it's battery draining made it more of a home consoul then good for travel. I always used the AC adapter.

I also used the ac adapter almost 99% of the time, but I loved the Gamegear. If we are talking about being stuck on a desert island for 30 years with only one of them + every game that came out for the system Id go with Gameboy, but for every now and then I chose Gamegear... Defenders of Oasis, Ax Battler and Chaken were some of my favs.

Thats a really tough question. Both systems have aspects I like about them. Gamegear had color and better graphics but Gameboy is the first hand held system I ever played and has alot of classic titles. I'm undecided on this one but I'm leaning a bit more towards the Gameboy.
