Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. That game definitely CAN'T be beaten, unless you have the second issue of Nintendo Power, which has all the tips and stuff for the game in it. The reason why you can't beat it without a walkthrough is because in order to get all the items you need to beat the game, you have to find all these secret hidden passages. And you can't find them without something showing you where they are

I don't know if this is just my copy, or if it's that I was playing it on a DS lite instead of an original DS, but in Animaniacs: Lights, Camera, Action!, the game crashes when you try to collect one of 5 food items in a certain part of level 12, "The Castle of Dr Schratchnsniff IV"; upon picking up one of those items, you're supposed to trigger the appearance of a boss, but for me, the game crashes, making it impossible to beat unless you know the level skip cheat!
Anyone else have this game? Do you have that problem with the part of the game I just explained?

I know some of these games have been mentioned already but the games I think are impossible to beat are:

                Battletoads
                Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
                The Lion King

I beat Simon's Quest. And I figured a lot of it out myself through trial and error.

Battletoads was nearly impossible. I could never get past that damned speederbike level. I hear it gets harder from there.

The first TMNT game was pretty hard too, though I never understood why so many people got stuck at the Dam level. That part was cake. The level after that was where I got stuck. There was one jump I could never make. You'd try to jump but hit your head on the ceiling and fall into the sewer and be forced back to the beginning. You were supposed to press the jump button lightly but I guess I could never press it lightly enough. I also heard you could just walk normally over the gap but every time I tried I'd fall and be forced to start over.

Games that are a challenge to beat?
Blaster Master is clearly one of those games that match this description, I still have trouble in the final area (darn obstacles). I hear so many complaints with that mutant crab boss from most people, he used to make me all nervous when I had to fight against him.
How about Super Spy Hunter? So many people still have trouble getting past all of those laser-firing bosses like Laser Cannon (3rd boss) and Magnetic Destroyer (4th boss), I used to have trouble with Super Spy Hunter when I got that far. These days, I give it my all in that game due to lots of practice especially in the final level with all of those deathtraps.
