Thread: Antz or A Bug's Life?

I only saw the final action scene of Antz. Never saw the whole film. Nor do I really want to. I have seen A Bug's Life several times, and for what it's worth, I'd choose that movie over Antz any day. I'm not sure how true this is, but in 4th Grade, a classmate of mine told me Antz got sued because it was a complete rip-off of a A Bug's Life. And the Rumor is, one of the writers for Disney left and took their idea of A Bug's Life to Dreamworks. In other words, he betrayed Disney . Which movie do you prefer? And is the rumor true. Did Antz really get sued?

to me "a bug's life" seemed like it was lacking in the entertainment department, so i went with antz. it's still ironic that both films were made in the same year

Antz all the way for me. A Bug's Life continues to be the only Pixar film that doesn't feel like a Pixar film, and it seems aimed towards very small children (the rest of the Pixar movies, with the possible exception of Finding Nemo, seemed aimed at a slightly more intelligent juvenile audience).

Antz, for what it's worth, is very much an animated Wooody Allen film. The dialog is a playful homage to his own style of existential crises and intellectual banter. Sure, there are animated bugs, but it aims higher and succeeds. We just need a Blu-ray or DVD from a legit digital source -- the current DVD released in the late 90's is from a film print and looks horrible.
        I love you, Donna Troy.

When I was little, I thought Antz and A Bug's Life were similair even thought I have not watched Antz until many years later, but only a few scenes. I don't remember if I even watched A Bug's Life From what I remember watching a few from each movie, I say Antz.

I remember seeing both movies in theaters back when they first came out. However, I liked "A Bugs Life" even more. Not sure why people didn't like that movie. I actually find it to be the most underrated movie from Pixar since movies like Wall-e, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Cars, and others gets talked about from the general public but never A Bugs Life.

But then again, I've only seen Antz when it was still in theaters, so I'm not sure if the movie still holds up or if it's better than A Bugs Life.

Antz all the way! Now I didn't hate A Bug's Life, I actually enjoyed both films very much, but Antz was much funnier. It was also darker and more mature. So even though I love both films I have to say

Both movies were good, but I liked A Bug's Life more out of the two.

It's always been my opinion that you can never be too nice but it's not good to let people walk all over you either.

Antz, but it's a tough call.
