Currently the only reports that we have is that they will officially announce this new system code named "Project Cafe" at E3 this June and that its graphical power is superior to the ps3 and xbox 360 and can be be viewed in 1080 and will be backwards compatible with current wii software. No clue if its a Wii 2 or another brand new name console. Either way im keeping my eyes peeled when E3 comes around

They also said the system's controller will be similar to a GameCube controller, only with dual analog control sticks and a touch screen display. Why do I get the feeling that these controllers will cost around $100 a piece?

I've heard reports about it, and saw this as what they might use.

I would really hope they don't call it Wiiii because that just makes it sound stupid and split the difference by saying that I'm going to be playing the Wiiii and not the Wii.

As for what I've heard about it, it sounds pretty cool that they're trying to make it more powerful than the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and by having it be in HD. However, I am somewhat skeptical since the Wii was sort of disappointing to a lot of people, including most of the friends that I know. All I can say, is that I hope Nintendo has something big for it that makes it worth purchasing. I also hope that 85% of their library doesn't consist of shovelware titles which was the case for the Wii and DS.

I really don't think the new system will be called "Wiiii" or even "Wii 2". It sounds like Nintendo is going to take a completely different approach with this one than they did with the Wii. Giving a new system the same name as the previous system with just an added number attached to the end of it is a Sony and Microsoft thing, not Nintendo (well, I guess they kind of did that with the "3DS" )

It will be awesome if this system really is more powerful than the PS3, and Nintendo gets it out a good year before Sony and Microsoft get their new systems out. I have a feeling though that all three companies will be unveiling their new systems at this year's E3...Nintendo is just the only company who has officially announced it. If this is the case, than we have to worry about all three new systems being launched at around the same time, and the Nintendo system will most likely be the weakest of the three based on their previous track record. They haven't had the most powerful system out of the competition since the N64, and even that system couldn't do some things that the Playstation could do simply because Nintendo stuck with carts.

I don't really need a Wii and don't like it all that much. Given it's a great console and has the game I really want to play (Silent Hill: Shattered Memories). I have a kinnect which is a little better in picking up movements, in my opinion. I've been prone to stick with a Playstation but I did get a 360 and have really enjoyed it. I just can't see myself owning so many consoles and never have enough games to play them on or even enough screens. That's why I have a external hard drive which stores all the old consoles i have into one little area of storage. Not a lot of bulk and it never gets in the way.

I skipped out on the wii because there wasnt really too many titles that caught my attention (except the Mario Galaxy series), but if its true this one will be more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox, thatll be awesome, just hope they take advantage of it and make some adult games and not really on wii sports.

Funny, I always took 3DS as the Nintendo DS, now with 3D capabilities (and using 3D models for everything doesn't count :P)

it's kinda weird using 3DS as "hurray, same console name bigger number" BS, given there was the DS regular, DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL. all of which, for the most part, were based off the same system and use the same code.

As far as features that Nintendo could include on this new console, I would like to see some of the stuff shown here:

So, in other words, you want a ps3/360 made by nintendo.

                              That aside,

I'm surprised nintendo is finally getting with the times, everyone i know that owns a wii never play it unless some new mario game comes out, and those that do play theirs a lot have them modded and don't buy games.

Hell, i haven't touched mine in about a year and am probably gonna just give it to my nephew.

Here's hoping the new one doesn't suck balls.

Well hopefully with todays technology they can put a way better gpu in the wii2. Because I know with todays gpu's are way better now than they were when they produced the 360 and the ps3. But of course that's how technology is, one year you have the cream of the crop and the next year it's out of date. But with the Wii2 being more than a couple of years newer hopefully it will have a bad ass gpu and a way better controller.

Nintendo was always out muscled in terms of processing power by rival game consoles, and it still thrived. But finally it will be nice to see them ditch the "Don't beat 'em, confuse em!" creed. Then again, it will be a shame if the new Nintendo is just another 360/PS3.

Nintendo will never dominate the competition with a system that's "a little more powerful" than the 5 year old PS3 (which will be 6 by the time the new system comes out). Remember, the Wii was "a little more powerful" than the original XBOX which was 5 years old around the time of the Wii's release. If the new Nintendo system's power really is only a little more than the PS3's power, than Nintendo is going to once again have a system on their hands that has graphic capabilities that look like they could have been pulled off on the previous generation of consoles.

Remember, Sony and Microsoft will also be unveiling their new systems soon...and while Nintendo's new system may be a "little more" powerful than the PS3, the new Sony and Microsoft systems will most likely be "a lot" more powerful.

It doesn't even feel like the wii has been out for all that long. But whatever, I'm not going to get one anyway.

I may be alone here, but I honestly feel like the video market is headed for another crash.

Wii 2? These past 5 years passed really fast... Anyway, I hope Nintendo makes some new stuff, because I'm tired of getting Nintendo consoles for the sake of Zelda, Mario, or SSB...
