I have had my PS3 for over a month, but I still haven't set up the connection to my wireless router . So I tried it last night, and it turned into 2 and a half hours of uselessness.

I got nowhere doing the connection to the wireless router, so I'm coming here to see if any of you know who to do it.

So I basically did what it says to do in these instructions:

    http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectwireless.html

However, instead of WEP, I used WPA.

As soon as I set the key, it won't go forward. Tt times out and says I have to do it again, and the key may or may not be right.

So I try WEP and it does the same exact thing.

So I decide to use none, but it times out.

So I redo the thing by using custom instead of easy, and it works. So then every time a test a the connection, it fails.

So what do I do to make sure the connection works. Do I keep it on "Easy"? What is the encryption key I have to put in?

I all I do is go to network settings then go to internet settings. Then I go to wireless and hit scan. My name pops up and then I type in the password then continue and it works. Not hard.

So for that security thing, you type in the password to the router?

Is your router security enabled? If so, which type? WEP or WPA? You have to know and specify which type, although I think PS3 can specify for you I don't remember.

If your router isn't security enabled you don't need to specify either, just choose none... although I recommend you do set that up unless you want people leeching off your internet.

            Yes, or the security number.
