My favorite ones are "Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest," and "Super Castlevania 4." The music, monsters, and the gameplay in the second one are awsome. If I had to vote for which of the first three "Castlevania" games is the best, my vote would have to go to the second one. I love the intro, and the bosses in "Super Castlevania 4."one of the bssses in that game is Frankenstein's monster. That's got to be one of the best "Castlevania" bosses ever! My least favorite one is "Castlevania Bloodlines." The gameplay's not that good compared to the gameplay that the Nintendo games had. What are your favorite, and least favorite "Castlevania" games?

Though the general concensus is that Super Castlevania 4 is the best (and it is) my personal fave will always br -whatta ya know?- Bloodlines and my least favorites is Simon's Quest. The whole day/night thing and some platforming bits just drove me batty.

BTW,if you're old school and you haven't played Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, what are you waiting for?

Wow tough choice for a favorite Castlevania game. As much as I love Super Castlevania and the music in Symphony of the Night is spectacular. My vote has to go to Castlevania 3 on Nintendo. Its the one I find myself always coming back to play with its different paths and different playable characters. Its my go to game for a Castlevania fix.

Least favorite would be the new one Castlevania Lords of Shadow or whatever its called. Castlevania is a series that I believe must stay 2-D. Besides that the new just did not have a Castlevania feel to it at all. It was just a huge disappointment. I would take Castlevania 64 over Lords of Shadow.

I only played the demo of Lords of Shadow, and I sorta liked but didn't felt like a Castlevania game AT ALL. But to say the horrible Castlevania 64 is better is plain unfair and just silly...

          Lament of Innocence

          and Curse of Darkness

were better as 3D games and it's a shame Konami outsourced the development of Lords of Shadow rather than let Koji Igarashi make a new current-gen Castlevania.

I completely forgot about the PS2 Castlevania games. I remember being really psyched for Lament of Innocence but unfortunately it was not the 3D Castlevania experience I was hoping for.

I only played the original and second game for the NES, and the first GameBoy game. Sooo, yeah I didn't like the GB game. The original GameBoy was hard to follow on the screen, and wasn't that great.

Castlevania (64) can be best described as an abortion or abomination of a game. Besides looking like crap, it plays like crap.

Castlevania 64 is pretty bad for Castlevania standards. I am surprised gaming mags back then gave it such decent reviews. In fact remember EGM giving is a better score then Nintendo Power did.

My favorite Castlevania games include: Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania - Symphony of the Night, and Castlevania Dracula X - Rondo of Blood (originally unreleased in the U.S.). My least favorites would have to be Castlevania II - Simon's Quest, Castlevania III - Dracula's Curse, and Castlevania Dracula X (SNES version). I also don't prefer the N64 ones.

As of late, Castlevania HD, Awesome game. I love how they made Castlevania 1 into an entire level complete with every boss.

I hate all the 3D ones. I love all the 2D Castlevania games, but I don't like it how all the recent ones try to be like "Symphony of the Night". As much as I love SotN, I wish the series would go back to the original formula.

Super Castlevania IV for SNES was the best one and one of the best videogames of all time. The music was phenomenal and the game itself was actually pretty hard until you got good at it. The 8th level(Sewers) with Frankenstein's Monster as the boss was especially hard because it had so many of those spiky things that were insta-kill if you touched them. You had to time a lot of those jumps and whip-locks perfectly. Great game. One of the few games that if I saw it in a store I'd still pay like 30-40 bucks for it.
