I'm talking of course, about the whole virtual pet toy craze that went on in 1998 when I was nine years old in the 3rd Grade. It all started with Nano Pets, Giga Pets, and Tamagotchis. And there were a bunch of knock-offs. Nano started out with a puppy, a kitty, and a baby. I had the puppy. My classmates praised me for having the puppy because most of them wished they had one. They told me it was the best one because it was the easiet one to take care of out of the first three Nano toys. I still remember the day I got it like it was yesterday. It was before my parents took me to my first Columbus Clippers baseball game. They took me to a K.B toy store which was just a few minutes from where we used to live. I couldn't buy anything, but I did enjoy looking around. When we got to the game, my dad said "Derek, don't forget your new toy." And he pulled out a brand-new orange Nano Puppy. I played with it the whole game. It was one of the best outings I ever had with my parents! Some of my friends would bring their virtual pets to school. It was easy for them to get away with it, because all they had to do was turn the sound off. I never brought mine, but every day when I came home, I had to clean up after it, and feed it. Sadly, I eventually lost it. Shortly after that, an adult friend of mine ave me another Nano puppy that he found. Only it was purple. I got the Nano puppy that could talk when I went shopping with my grandparents. When I was eleven, Another adult friend surprised me with a Nano turtle. My last virtual pet was a VR dog. When Giga first came out, they had a dog, a cat, and an alien. I wanted the alien, but never got it. I also wanted the Bugs Bunny one that would repeat back whatever you said. All my friends either had Giga pets, or Tamagotchis. Does anyone remember these toys? If so, which one(s) did you have? And did you ever bring any to school?
