What was the very first video game you went to the store to purchase. Now I am not talking about picking out a video game for Christmas or your birthday. What video game did you save up money on your own to play? You could of used christmas money or birthday money, but you used your own hard earned cash.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the first one I ever bought with my allowance was Atlantis for the 2600 way back in the day.

Ecco the Dolphin and The Simpsons for Sega Genesis. For PS1 it was Frogger and The Spice Girls.

The first game that I can actually ACTIVELY remember is Chubby Cherub:

I remember getting it at 'Child World' with my paper-route money. It was my first of many... but also the first game I was kind of stuck with as they had a policy of not taking games back once opened (new policy). Previously, I used to 'borrow' games from other places like Hills & K-Mart by buying them & returning them a day or two or three later.

This one... I was stuck with. (I also tried to use a sticker from another game that was $10 less, the cashier was a little wise to that)

Usually my parents would just buy me what I wanted, I would get like any game I really wanted right away and anything else for my birthday or Christmas (of course, there was a reasonable limit). The first one I remember buying with my own money was Tetris & Dr. Mario for the Super Nintendo, but that was with a gift card a friend got me. I'm pretty sure the first one that I bought with money I got from my job was Pokemon Platinum. Before that, I got most of my money from mowing the lawn and stuff, but I really don't remember exactly what I used that money for as opposed to what my parents may have bought.
