      The attitude of 2000-2003 to many was "There is no 2000's, it's still the 90's" as a backlash of the lack of progress.

        That's the problem when establishing guide lines. And yes, we need them. I understand retro is in the eye of the beholder and all that jazz. But for the health and focus of the site, we gotta keep it below 2000.

        A lot of the older crowd (In terms of contributors/forum members) have left. And now we have a lot depressed kids barely out of their teens longing for their childhood. Nothing wrong with that. Just keep it to the forums.

          What's the problem? Weren't people on here writing about 1999 in 2005? Of course, the next decade would probably be 2000-2009 to match previous ones so it wouldn't go to 2010 in the first place.

              		 You can write whatever you want. Problem is that writing something from the 2000's goes beyond the purpose of the site.

              Also, IMO, there hasn't been a solid/substantial change from the begining of the decade to now. Anyhow, each with their own.

                		 Theres definitely some things worth noting from the 2000's, The Wire is pretty much my favorite show ever (aside from South Park) and that started in the 2000's, I loved the Bourne movies, Grand Theft Auto Vice City brings back a lot of great memories, i think if anyone looks they'll find cool things that they like from the last decade too, maybe just not as much.

                    		 Well, VH1 had a "new millenium" edition of their "I love the..." series, back in 2008. THAT is just fucking retarded.

                    Personally, I would say that stuff from the early 2000s -could- be considered retro, but it would have to be from pretty early, and it would have to be something which no longer exists or has been changed significantly since then, otherwise it would count as current. I don't think you can truly draw a line in the sand at a specific date, it depends more on the specific content. With that in mind though, I don't think anything later than 2005 would qualify at all. Stuff from 2000-2005 is borderline & would have to go on a case by case basis.

                      		 It should evoke a different time period. Maybe you could talk about the construction paper days of South Park and how the method affected production and style, but not about South Park in general.

                        		 If you take stuff from the 70's side by side with the 90's you can spot differences in a jiffy. Not only because of the 20+ time gap, more importantly the substantial changes in society as a whole.

                        Now, Take stuff from 2000. Compare them to this date. Can we spot differences as clearly as the previous example. I think not.

                                BTW, would you consider 18 still a "teenager"? I myself am confused. Even though it has EighTEEN, I'm still confused if people consider it teenager, adult, or perhaps both.

Turning 18 doesn't automatically turn you into an adult. you have very little life experience. The fact that you come here and debate with people about different eras that were already in high school when you were born or when you were starting grade school shows you are immature. To think you can educate people on something they lived outt first hand is rather ignorant if you ask me...

                                    		 Well if you don't want younger people here ask Vertex to make the registration cutoff 20 years from signup. Then I wouldn't have signed up.

                                    But no, people born in 2000 can signup, and they have no memories of anything pre-9/11. Imagine 12 year olds on the site saying that the mid 2000's were the best times ever. :lol:

The reason I say what I do to you is b/c you seem to fancy yourself as a retro expert and correct people on here and try to change the emphasis of the site. You make very little sense in your arguments as well. For instance your proof that 9/11 was the turning point. This site primarily deals with pop culture items. 9/11 didn't change a thing in that regards... Now I know from someone with your expertise you may disagree but I was a senior when that happened and nothing changed. Now around 98/99 there seemed to be a change in pop culture and fads, but things really haven't changed much, especially mainstream, since then. But of course you probably remember something from pre school and you think I am wrong...
