Which version of MAME works best with Windows 7? I would download the version of MAME I had before, but I don't want to take any chances of it being incompatible and throwing my computer out of whack. Thanks.

Dawg 3 years 10 months ago Posts: 484	MAME is the best thing to come along to preserve the nastalgia of games since the invention of Iced Tea! ;-) The last time I've played MAME unfortunately was since Vista 32-bit because of my PC crash back in March. I've since had a nice 64-bit upgrade of Windows 7 legally, however. If anyone has played MAME from there, do the ROMS run any faster, referring to the ones with the CHD files? Those always required such heafty PCs with beefy cards. I remember year-after-year just waiting to get a great newer Pentium or newer Duel Core...Quad Core... etc just to run simple racing games.

I have had no problems with Mame on Windows 7. I use mame UI.

If you get a new version of MAME make sure all your existing ROMs will be compatible.

Drahken 3 years 1 month ago Posts: 1239	^ This is what's absolutely retarded about MAME. Old roms aren't compatible with newer MAME and new roms aren't compatible with old MAME. Every time you update your emulator you have to go & redownload all your games too. Likewise, if you want to play a game you didn't have previously, you'll probably have to update MAME too, because the roms you download now will most likely be made for newer MAME & thus incompatible with the one you have.
