I used to watch it at my grandma's and she'd set up my paints and I'd paint along with him but they never came out like his. LOL

Honestly, me and my older cousin watched this show back in the day! He used to paint the same stuff as Bob and I kinda followed along sometimes. And he did have some big hair! :D

Of course I remember him. How could I forget one of the most influential people in my life? I've bought some of his sets before and done paintings using some of his techniques. Entered one in a show once. I still use his knife painting techniques- done whole works with a knife. He made it very easy. He used to put my cousin to sleep, though, because he had such a soothing voice. But I would watch him regularly. I tried to imitate his paintings on my playskool easel when I was 3 or 4. Too bad I never got to see one of his live demonstrations in Central Park.

I think the most important thing about his show was that he motivated people to explore painting, mostly the elderly who watched his show, because it's very theraputic and other good stuff.

Edit: Speaking of other PBS painters, I remember there was this really old guy who did blurry paintings, as well as this Irish guy who did watercolor. Then there was that woman who did one stroke painting for decorating walls and gifts with bunnies and stuff. And who could forget the quilting show? Ah, PBS.

I thought they were airing a comedy sketch when I first saw him. But I did like to watch some of his episodes. I wish I could draw and paint well. You retrojunkers out there with an artistic touch are lucky.

ah, the stoner with a gift.. just when you thought his landscape painting was completed he'd add a fucking mountain with beautiful streams of water and realistic views of trees and such. i remember watching his shows in the 80s/early 90s. i think my mom bought one of his huge paintings.

I know what you mean...I'd be watching it from start to finish. I remember that his paintings at first looked so plain, but then he'd take that flat edge spackle thing and suddenly make a mountain or rocks! "Let's make a happy little tree over here" with his fan brush...

He'd be so chill that he would actually put me to sleep in the afternoons.

this show was just on the local pbs show on saturday. it was on at 5:30 in the morning and I watched some of it. I checked the tv book and its supposed to be on again this saturday. I guess it depends on the pbs station whether they show it or not because we get a different pbs station too and it wasn't on there.

yeah i loved watching that guy. although it seems like an entirely boring concept, it was actually amazing to see the ease with which he painted these masterpiece landscapes.

I love watching that guy paint...he totally calms me. My grandpap sent away for one of his kits one time...and he ended up being really good at painting pictures. :)

I use to watch this whenever it was on PBS. I wish I could be as good as him! 8)

You know how much money his family can get from selling his paintings?! The value goes up once an artist has passed away (sad but true).

Bob Ross was so awesome! He makes it look so easy! :o

I watched this show whenever I could. He was really talented. It was cool to see how he could make a great painting just appear out of nowhere. I've always loved art so I was hooked on this show.

Bob Ross was the greatest. I even have a shirt of him with the caption, "Happy Little Trees." That man had the most relaxing voice that I could watch that show with a bear trap on my leg and I would be completely calm. I even used his tree making technique in art class once and it worked perfectly.

There was another guy that use to be on PBS (I think) that we'd watch during the art portions of elementary school sometimes. He would draw silly cartoons using 3D objects (sometimes on paper and sometimes on a glass) and his catch phrase was "Yeaaaaaah" while giving a thumbs up. I can't remember his name or the name of the show, though.
