My dad saw the new True Grit and then he watched the 1969 version again, and he pretty much said that the new one is just overrated. So I'm going to agree with him.

Jeff Bridges is nothing but some wannabe. I can't believe he got nominated.

            Clash Of The Titans.

I actually enjoyed the 1981 version, so with some modern day sprucing up and a super over-hyped Kracken scene that promised to be badass as all fuck, I had high expectations.

Needless to say, they were savagely beaten with a sledgehammer. Damn damn DAMN that lame ass assfest of a movie...

Off the top of my head the only thing that immediately comes to mind as soon as I seen the topic was "Superman Returns" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

SR suffered from really bad dialog and a story that was too trite and too similar to the original 1978 Superman film from Richard Donner and the Salkinds. To it's credit, Brandon Routh was a fair choice to play Supes, but the rest of the cast was too mismatched. Kevin Spacey as Luthor...Get real! I really would like to know the complete list of all of the actresses that Kate Bosworth beat out for the Lois Lane role, because they must truly be terrible!

IJATKOTCS was the perfect way to ruin a franchise that didn't need to be tampered with in the first place. The Last Crusade ended everything nicely and had all of it's heroes riding off into the sunset, just like we like 'em. Instead, Harrison Ford gets called up to don his fedora again but this time with a plot that is utterly ridiculous. The refrigerator escaping nuclear doom was the nail in the coffin.

I thought The Dilemma was really disappointing. Half of the scenes in the trailer aren't even in the movie.
I can't think of anything worth putting as a signature.

I have to agree with the Aqua Teen movie..it was pretty dumb, and I love Aqua teen hunger force. My biggest disappointment is a common one, The Phantom Menace and to a slightly lesser extent, Attack of the Clones. I had waited so long for these to come out and man what a pair of clusterfucks. I took my ex and my wife to Phantom Menace, since the only Star Wars they had seen was A new hope and man I looked like a fucktard liking this shit...not to mention all the collecting we had done of various movie tie ins for weeks on end before. But f' George Lucas....I bought a bootleg Episode 3..so he don't get my money. Seriously does he hate his fans that badly or is he just that far disconnected.

John Wayne deserved his oscar. Jeff Bridges doesn't deserve shit.

Another really disappointing movie to me is Doom. Never saw it but I heard it wasn't very good.

And the scene where Shia LaBeouf swings through the trees like Tarzan, and the scene where a bunch of ants carry a full grown man and stuff him in their ant hill, and the scene where they drive off a cliff and a tree limb catches them and gently sets them down in the water, and the scene where they go off three giant waterfalls, and the scene where an alien flying saucer emerges, and the scene....

The basis for his opinion is hearing something from someone else, much like his most disappointing movie is one he's never seen.

There really is no point in asking him to clarify his opinion or back it up in any way since it was never his to begin with.

Seriously, when has John Wayne not just PLAYED John Wayne in a movie? He's a classic film icon, no argument, but Mr. Bridges is a versatile actor who can layer some damn performances. I for one appreciated the new True Grit as something to stand alone from The Duke's performance, Jeff didn't put on a phony John Wayne accent or anything so he kind of made it his own. Coen-Bros-4-Lyfez.

Try some Jeff Bridges movies like Arlington Road or Starman if you want to see an un-Duded Jeff. The Fabulous Baker Boys is another good one IMO. As for disappointing movies, I'm probably going to have to go with that last Indiana Jones. To me it didn't feel anything like those old serial-based, quick-and-dirty type Indiana classics. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about some Indiana Jones, but sometimes a well is tapped out.

I was watching the Vanishing yesterday. Bridges was just an evil prick in that film. Very methodical, but an evil prick.

Another disappointing movie for me, V For Vendetta. Does not hold up to the graphic novel.

The Vanishing, good call. What about 300, Debris? I actually enjoyed that graphic-novel-to-movie adaption.

Biggest disappointment of my life was Master of Disguise. I'm not saying that Carvey is the greatest actor, but he is hilarious and you would think that he could pull out a decent movie... not even a good movie, but at least a DECENT movie. So I was expecting a good laugh at least... It was the worst movie ever made. I would rather have my hand slammed in a car door repeatedly than watch that movie again.
