I mean, I want to be a film screenwriter someday. If I turn out a success at that, I was thinking of adding myself a career in Hollywood film production. Do any of you aspirees have any tips?

I hate to spoil your dreams, but unless you have a lot of money and know people high up it probably isn't going to happen. You might want to look into book writing first.

Use a bunch of credit cards like Robert Townsend

That is exactly it. I forgot to mention I wanted to write at least one novel.

They must have some academies in Hollywood where they train you in that kind of field.

get good grades in school, go to a school in los angeles (USC has an amazing program for that), try and get internships, and do everything you can to meet someone who can help launch your career.

                it's who you know, honestly.

That, and being at the right place at the right time. In a couple years, Screen Gems is gonna finish up building a production here in Atlanta. And I'm SURE they'll be a bit accepting to all the eager young, fresh, aspiring filmmakers in the surrounding area to get things going

And just be good at your craft. Come up with good ideas, practice practice practice ALL aspects of film making if you can (writing, directing, editing, sound/light management, etc.), so at least that way you can be well-versed in a number of different things so you can at least get your foot in the door. You won't be directing or producing anything right away (unless you go indie for a while), so if you have talents in those other areas, you'll be a bit more valuable than the guy who JUST knows this or that, ya know?

By getting in where you fit in, honing your craft to its full potential, getting to know people that'll help you get you where you need to go, and jussst a bit of luck will get you going toward your goal. Just keep your eye on the prize and who knows. Maybe we're speaking with the next Spielberg here.

Well, the next Spielberg after me

Start writing scripts and enter them in different film festivals. Go to film festivals and network.

I've got a few script outlines I'd like to expand or finish by the end of the year. My only plan is to pass them around to friends/family and maybe post the least interesting of them on a blog of some sort.

I no longer have ambitions of being in an entertainment profession, unless I somehow get a Harry Potter-esque stroke of brilliance.

Convert to Judaism, then your shot is totally golden.
