Fries With That?. I used to watch that show and would laugh and laugh at their jokes. I saw it on YTV one time last year and I was like 'heheh'.

That's exatly what i was thinking too man. lol, I thought this site was for people who loved the shows of the 90's and missed them. I love TMNT I wish it was still on as well as all the other cartoons mentioned. today's cartoon's suck. I hate when kids who love todays cartoons pose as retro junkies to try and promote the new crap they shove down little kids throats these days.

I can see where he's comin' from. I'm like that too with a lot of shows from when I was a kid actually. It's either my tastes have changed, I've heard every single joke in a show too many times, or looking back at it with an older perspective you start thinking the characters you thought were cool were actually real jerks.

I have a hard time watching any of the old cartoons now. Makes sense since they were intended to capture a child's attention.

As recently as 4-5 years ago I would stay up late to enjoy Roseanne, Home Improvement, Family Matters, Step by Step, Full House, etc. I just get zero enjoyment out of watching them now for some reason. Not funny, and not entertaining.

I prefer to keep these shows firmly installed in the nostalgia center of my brain, rather than dredge them up for actual viewing now.

 WOW! There are actually living human beings who hate the Looney Tunes?!? You have no taste in cartoons. Those cartoons aren't the least little bit "obnoxious". You are insulting american animated classics, and for that you make me angry! :x

Anyway some cartoons that I used to like, but can't stand now are:

iMucha Lucha! - At the time this show started in 2003 I think it was, I would pretty much like anything if it was animated. Luckily I grew out of that fast, and now this show is just awful.

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog - Just a cheap Wile E. Coyote & Road Runner knock-off. It uses the oldest jokes in the book, the Sonic Sez segments are very campy and weird, and the whole show is way too cheesy.

Sonic Underground - Lame, an insult to the games and the SatAM Sonic series. Sonic a prince and in a rockband.... COME ON!!!

There are probably more, but I can't think of any at the time.

X-Men. I was crazy about as a kid, but looking back.... the animation is really dated and a lot of the voice performances are pretty laughable.

I picked up vol. 1 and 3 of Pinky and the Brain on DVD. I remember enjoying it back in the day when it was on both the WB and Kids' WB, but surprisingly I haven't really enjoyed that many episodes on the DVD sets.

And I have to say South Park (hey, I may not have been a kid but I was just starting to get to my teens when I started watching it plus they started in the 1990's, so I'm counting them). Maybe it's how bad the recent seasons are that they've lessened my enjoyment of the earlier ones, or maybe the all the more current events-based episodes are just starting to feel dated, but I'm just not liking it all that much when I watch it nowadays. I'm considering selling most of my season collections.

Although I still enjoy Bugs and Daffy and co, I.... do have side with them over Tom and Jerry. I greatly enjoy all the Disney shorts and Looney Tunes (in fact, I just marathoned a bunch of the Golden Collection shorts a few weeks ago) I like most of the other MGM stuff especially Droopy, and I like a a lot of the Paramount stuff like Superman and Popeye and even characters like Koko the Klown and Betty Boop and Grampy, but.... I hate Tom and Jerry. I hate their stuff so much it's not even funny. I think I may have liked the old shorts back when I was 3 or 4, but since then I just can't stand them. I find the old shorts to be extremely repetitive and mean-spirited with Jerry in particular coming off like a complete d-bag. Sorry if I've upset anyone who's a fan of them, but I just cannot stand that series.

I would have to say the WB cartoons after they were castrated-er-edited for Saturday morning TV.

Well, even though I like the early Hanna-Barbera Tom & Jerry shorts, I have to agree with some of what you just said. Jerry is kind of a jerk, and it does get kind of repetetive. Oh well I still like them. What made me angry was what Kittykatt said about Looney Tunes. The Bugs Bunny original shorts are probably the greatest animations of all time. Counting short-films, feature-films, TV shows, TV specials, etc. I'm sorry, but anyone who dislikes Looney Tunes has no idea what good animation really is. And I too liked Droopy; Popeye; The Disney shorts; and Superman. Also I like Woody Woodpecker and Felix the Cat, but I'm probably getting a little off-topic now.

Others that I don't care much for nowadays, but used to like are:

Super Mario World - Now I loved the S.N.E.S. game Super Mario World, and the SMBSS and AOSMB3 were pretty good, SMW on the other hand was just too corny, and contradicted too much from the games. Well, I used to like it, but from an adult perspective it's a pile of Yoshi crap.

Aladdin - Of course I'm talking about the show, not the movie. This was just a little bit too light-hearted, zany, off-the-wall, and twisted when compared to the Disney classic it's adapted from. Of course all the things I mentioned earlier were on the movie too because of Genie, but the show just over-did it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it as much as I used to.

Full House - The only live-action show on my list. God, I used to love this show. Now I can hardly even sit through it. It's just too cheesy. Even in the '80s Full House was just plain CHEESY!

[quote=blueluigi]As I mentioned before, there are a lot of cartoons that I liked as a kid that I can't stand today. Here are some good examples.

Captain Planet - I actually didn't have Cartoon Network back then, but I would watch it when it was on Kids WB. I liked it back then. However, I rewatched it fairly recently and I found it to be completely unwatchable. I think the Nostalgic Critic summed up how I think of the show now.

Sailor Moon (English dub) - I used to fondly watch this show after school right before Pokemon would come on. But now, it's hard for me to watch because of the music, voice-acting, dialogue, and the lame "Sailor Says" segment at the end. Yet, I still enjoy the Japanese version.

Cow and Chicken - Again, liked it when it was on Cartoon Network. Find it unwatchable now. That show, to me, is just some cheap knock-off of Ren and Stimpy.[/quote

Lol I agree, especially pokemon, I can't believe someone said TMNT, that show rules! Like what are you doing on here if you don't like retro programming. TURTLES FOREVER!

Strangly enough, I still enjoy the shows I watched as a kid. However, Inspector Gadget is the exception. I used to watch it every day after school; it sucks. But the others: Scooby Doo, Thundarr, MASK, I can still enjoy; at least in small doses.

I'd have to go with Captain Planet as well. I decided to DVR an episode recently and quickly realized what a horrible decision that was once I got into the episode.

Family Matters is another show I can't bring myself to watch now. I loved it as a kid, but it's pretty cringe-inducing now.

Although I adored them when I was younger, I don't think the cartoons of the Silver Age of Warner Brothers have aged well. The fact that they frequently and blatantly announced they were 90s cartoons meant that decades later, they would end up being outdated.

On the live-action side, I feel that "Saturday Night Live" episodes from 1986 onwards don't hold as much sway for me as they once did. Let's just say that you can only hear people cheering on Phil Hartman and Dana Carvey so much before you're saying to yourself "Hey, the show was on for 11 years before this".

Bobby's World - Used to enjoy this as a kid. Now, after watching a clip on youtube, I cannot stand it. The animation's awful, the voice acting is grating, etc.

Pokemon - Technically should not be here since I did not watch it until early 2000, but thought I would post my two cents. I am not really a fan of anime(save for Studio Ghibli's films), but I still saw this as a kid since I got into the games around that time. I watched it every saturday morning up to the third season, when I started to lose interest. I still admittingly play the games, but They really need to stop making this show.

If they stop making the games, then they can stop making the show....simple as that.

I've watched some of the BW series, and I actually liked it...although, granted, I haven't seen an episode of it since I've come back stateside. I think the show had only gotten up to the second gym with Aloe (no idea what her name is here).

The A-Team. - They get hired to save "Victim X" from "Bad Guy Y" or "Bad Organization Z". The bad guys fight back, lock them in a makeshift prison (or mine or whatever they have available). The A-Team discover that they have access to armor plating, some kind of vehicle, tools, and welding equipment. They bust out, they fire M-16's, AK-47's, and M1911 handguns into the air and they're of course victorious (after the mandatory jeep flying through the air of course). This formula gets tiresome when you're not a kid and you just paid for a crappy DVD boxset.

Airwolf. - Formulaic at best. The show suffer some of the same problems that The A-Team is afflicted with. I wouldn't buy this on DVD even if I had access to a fortune in gold.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - Watching this cartoon on a "Ye Olde" 80's TV set I absolutely loved it. Now? Not so much. I actually bought a couple of DVD's a year or so and I gotta say, absolutely hated it. Turned it off. Dropped in a box, put the box in storage.
