The first commercial came out circa 1971, and was for salad dressing. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the brand name. It involved a family sitting at the dinner table. One of the family members says: "Who made the salad?" I don't recall what happened next. It's a very vague memory for me. I wish I had more details. The second commercial was animated, (I think). It was a PSA (circa 1973) and featured a group of kids playing in a park, sharing their toys, and candy, with each other. I remember the kids dancing, and singing a song that went something like: "It's fun to share! That's the way it truly is! Truly Ruly Ruly is!!!!" The third one came out circa 1975, and was for a transparent children's watch that displayed two kids (a boy and girl) riding on a teeter-totter. I believe the product's name was : "The Teeter Totter Watch." I remember it being shown a lot during "The Captain Kangaroo Show." The company that made it must have been one of their sponsors. The fourth one came out in 1979, and was for a chicken related product. I cannot recall the name of the product, nor the name of the company that manufactured it. The ad featured an African American woman sitting at a table eating chicken. She started off the commercial by saying: "I can describe this chicken in two words. MMMMM! MMMMM!!!!" I cannot remember what happened next, in the ad. Last, but not least, the fifth one came out in 1979, and was another PSA that showed two kids fighting. The screen "froze" in the middle of their argument, and a narrator said: "What would you do?" The screen then "unfroze", and the narrator explained how the kids talked things over, and reached a compromise. The producers of this particular ad must have been trying to encourage kids to cooperate with one another.

Yes, I have been told I have an incredible memory!

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Sincerely, Steve B. :D

That's okay. If only I could find them on You-Tube. Almost everything is there, with a few exceptions!

As I recall, a family is gathered around the dinner table and one by one each person tries a forkful of salad. It's so good they each ask in turn, "who made the salad?"

OK, Who made the Salad?

Out walks grandma, proudly holding up a bottle of salad dressing and announcing, "the salad maker - Seven Seas".

This of course was before Seven Seas salad dressing was acquired by KRAFT Foods.
Those commercials are long gone, and none of them have been uploaded onto youtube, yet!

Thanks eddstarr88...you have saved the day, as usual!

So, the "salad dressing" ad was for "Seven Seas" salad dressing. I didn't imagine it.

"...none of them have been uploaded onto youtube, yet!" The key word is "yet". This means there is hope for them to be uploaded in the future. I will keep my fingers crossed! 8)

Eddie's da man!

We have to rely on someone that has these old reels laying around that probably worked in TV to post them. Commericals in the late 70s and up are easier to come by since VCR recordings off TV started becoming more and more common. Sadly I think many of these oldies might be lost forever :(

Yes, I agree that the VCR is the reason many old commercials live on youtube.

But I also think the VCR may have appeared too late for many of the ads that I remember for a whole host of products. Some may be recorded on Super 8 or 16mm film, stuffed in the back of a musty, ol' closet somewhere.

This PSA seems vaguely familiar but I can't quite zero in on it, for now.

But while I was searching for clues, I ran into an old Federal Government PSA from The U.S. Department of Transportation.

After the gasoline crisis of 1973/1974, a series of PSA's for the national
"Share the Ride" campaign began airing around 1975, (the clip is older than youtuber, robatsea2009 realizes!),if my memory serves me correctly.

During the 1970's some of the best PSA's came from Uncle Sam, and the following youtube clip is just one example of a great ad, and it ran regularly during Saturday Morning cartoons on all three networks back in the day:

eddstarr88...I remember the PSA you posted. Thanks! :)

There are a lot of 1970's commercials on "You Tube", but I have noticed that the posters place them in "lump sum" collections rather than individually, or categorized according to subject matter. Many of the ads I mentioned in my post may be on "You-Tube" but I am too lazy and impatient, (and pressed for time) to watch each and every 70's commercial collection on "You Tube", and search for the ads I described in my post. I thought my post would remind people who saw the ads on "You-Tube", and they would identify which particular links had them (and thus help me save time).

Can anybody out there provide more assistance?

Cheers! :)

You're absolutely right triviaprofessor, I've run into a few old favorite ads posted on youtube as part of a "block feed" of advertisements from selected years. Usually the ad I like is always the last one on the clip!

I'll keep searching for the other ads mentioned in your original post unless someone else snags them first.

I remember the Teeter Totter Watch commercial well. In fact, that's what brought me here. I still can't find it anywhere, but I sure can remember the little jingle that was played on the commercial. A little march-time ditty that emphasized the up-and-down motion of the teeter totter. My sister got one of those for Christmas of '74, I believe.

That little mechanical tune often spontaneously pops into my head when I'm in a hurry to get somewhere. Often I'll be in the shower whistling that tune (it's really about an 8-second loop) to help speed me up!! That's been going on for 40 years now!!!! :-D

That's a very iconic commercial and I'm surprised it hasn't turned up on YouTube yet.

Another one I remember well is the Operation game, where the mom comes up and politely asks, straight from the script, "May I play?" And I'll never forget the little kid who shouts out "Buttuhfingihs" when someone hits the edge of the board with his little tweezers. That commercial must have been shot in Brooklyn!
