I'm actually really broken up about it. I spent a good 20 minutes blowing into it and replugging stuff back in...I felt like someone desperately giving CPR to someone who's already dead...I'm going to get another one, but this is just sad because Santa Claus brought this time me in '92 and I remember opening it and freaking out. During the time I didn't have friends and was depressed, the SNES was one of the few one things that kept me busy and made me happy

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Sure you could replace it but... it was YOUR SNES, man.

It's not as bad as losing a member of your family. You can replace your old Super Nintendo by looking at some secondhand stores, or use an online shopping site like Amazon or eBay.

Can you describe the problem a little more? Does the system turn on or is there no picture? There can be some simple fixes depending on the type of problem. If it doesn't turn on you could try another AC adapter or if you get no picture you could try cleaning the system inside and try cleaning games.

My original SNES system that I also got for Christmas in 1992, died clear back in 1998. Yep, it only lasted 6 years. I quickly bought another one which has lasted me to this day...but I still kept my original around just because of the sentimental value.

Don't worry. Your Super Nintendo is now in a better place. In that great big Arcade in the sky.

I bet it can be fixed if you know anyone that is good at fixing stuff. If not you can buy another one for about $50.

I'm surprised mine still work. I got mine for Christmas in 1992 too.

That aside, maybe it can be fixed. As another poster mentioned...you should describe what's exactly wrong. There's a chance of its being able to get fixed.

At this point, it'd make a lot more sense to just buy a new one. If you're really attached to it, keep it in a closet or something.

lorax, I know how you feel! I felt the same way when my Sega CD died... I had the original Model 1, and the on-board fuseby the power jack had went out. Easy fix, I thought, I just jumped the fuse to bypass it using a soldering iron and some solder.... Big mistake, I had a power surge that fried the system board a few months later. The classic consoles, while they may die in their physical forms, will never die in our hearts! :D

I've had mine since 1994. Still running to this very day.

Thanks for the sympathy guys! I'm still sad about it but I'm going to bring it into my local retro-game store and see what they recommend or at least see what was wrong with it (autospsy). I'm def going to get another one or figure this one out. My best friend recommended taking a day making an awesome shadow box and keeping it in there as kind of a memorial type deal, with a quote that I said whilst playing one night that we all say now, which we just may do, haha, we're the dorkiest girls ever :) I'm glad that you guys understand though, it's nice to be able to talk about it and grieve appropriately.

Also yeah, it could have been worse, it could have been a loved one, but this (and my stuffed rabbit) is the closest materialistic item I own that really actually cared about, everything else is just stuff to me.

If anything, I may actually quit putting off getting my nintendo controller tattoo now :)
