I'm calling out Bioware- In Dragon Age 2 they introduce the main character Hawke who is A COMPLETE RIPOFF of Guts from Berserk

    HAWKE-

    GUTS-

    MUST SEE!!!!!

    Similarities-

    1. Hawke has Gut's trademark across the nose scar

    2. Hawke has a prosthetic hand just like Guts

    3. They both wield an oversized two-handed sword

    4. Overall likeness

    5. Hawke's armor (from Game Informer) looks nearly identical to Gut's berserker armor

    6. Hawke's name, Guts belonged to the Band of the Hawk

This is bullshit and Bioware knows it!

I think you're grasping at straws here.

Nah, trust me dude, I just couldn't get good pics at the moment (this Hawke business is all new)

It's blatantly obvious to a Berserk fan, in fact I thought that the Dragon Age 2 ad was for a new Berserk video game

EDIT: I added new pics in the first post

Okay, wielding an oversized sword is common practice. That negates THAT argument.

Hawke's name and the fact that Guts belonged to the Band of The Hawke have nothing in common. Hawke is a name thats been used for ages in fantasy. Another argument negated.

The scars are different. In fact, Squall Lionheart from Final Fantasy VIII had a scar across his nose.

The prosthetic arm looks more like a long bracer. Commonly used with swordsmen.

The two armors are nothing alike.

They look nothing like each other. Except maybe the hair. OH MY GOD!!! BIOWARE RIPPED OFF HIS HAIR!!!

          The straws have been grasped.

Thanks, no lie that's interesting about Squall and the long bracer

So are you saying that it's just 100% coincidence? -

That the ongoing manga series starting in 1990 (now being printed by Darkhorse), which spawned an anime series and two Berserk video games hadn't any influence on the creation of the character Hawke whatsoever

It looks to be more Dungeons and Dragons influenced.

In the first Dragon Age game, the creative team cited George R.R. Martin's fantasy novels as a major source of inspiration when creating the world

As Debrisstorm said, there's definitely a lot of D&D mechanics used as well

All I'm asking is if Guts was indeed a source of inspiration, then some bloak on the design team should acknowledge it. Like when u write a paper, u gotta cite your sources

By that logic, then J.K. Rowling should cite Tim Hunter as the inspiration for Harry Potter. Because the ripoff there is VERY blatant.

                        I wouldn't doubt that.

Is unlikely Bioware wasn't aware of the similarities... but that is not plagarizing and if someone tries to built a case upon it he will fall flat on his ass.

Similarities in style are commonplace between illustrators even thoguh we can be sure they know about it.

Alright first of all your an idiot! I have played many games that use the scar and actually what you saw of hawke isn't a scar but battle paint/tattoo which was done in middle age times to strike fear into people. The indian's even did it. Now for the arm are you serious? Your that stupid? Thats part of the damn champion armor set! He has both arm's he was born with! And to the Hawke comment thats not ever worth me commenting on the sheer idiocy. As for the oversized sword I am sure games and animes before that one used that so really I think you need use your brain a lot more than you currently are. I Normally don't comment on stuff like this but the idiot that posted this is too damn foolish for me not to. Maybe if the idiot played the game he'd realize this.
