...and I thought I used to have a lot of consoles...
Let's start in order from oldest to newest.
Atari 2600 - My first system. It was really out family's, but it eventually morphed into mine, which now sits in my parents attic (should be moved to mine some day before it melts away there). TI 99/4A - Yes, it's a computer & a game system. It was a MAJOR upgrade to the Atari that everybody was bleeping & blooping to still. We had all the attachments including the voice modulator, tape cassette, you name it. The quartly magazine to order games from. Games were an excellent upgrade from 2600 days, although still glitchy & sometimes crashed if you loaded them from the cassette tape. Good times, good times! Nintendo Entertainment System (Original with ROB, then returned with light gun & Super Mario combo after a week when we found out it was crap) SEGA Genesis - 16-bits of raw power! The Altered Beast on the box blew me away... Ghouls 'n' Ghosts near perfect conversion? Super Hang-On? Super Space Harrier? I was all over it!! My paper route paid off big time! Atari Lynx - Yes, I bought into the Lynx v. Gameboy because of the color and what I thought were better games. I tried to justify my decision despite the lack of software. Super Nintendo - I HAD to get it finally. I resisted the first year or so because I wanted to just stick with SEGA's Genesis, but Smash TV... man, Smash TV and the ultra realistic sound effects that the Nintendo could produce vs the crap MIDI music & muffled SEGA was churning out was pale in comparison. Atari Lynx II - I sold my original Lynx to my friend for like $50 and bought the Lynx II because of the cool styling and the stereo sound. So now we could both jam together... I didn't sucker him into it... it was in great condition and he didn't have a Gameboy. Hell, I even gave him my mom's homemade case. 3DO Interactive Multiplayer (ie: the Panasonic version, after it dropped down to a "mere $500" ... gazing in the TV screens in Babbages as I drooled in the creamy goodness of it's 32-bit graphic goodness. Nintendo-64 - Went back to cartridges because I wanted that fast-paced games after the long-loading 3DO-era. SEGA Dreamcast - Only after they announced the instant drop of the Dreamcast's support & the price from $199 to $99, I think it was, that I picked it up... I instantly went "crazy" snatching up games... ironically enough buying Crazy Taxi among many others that I was itching for. Microsoft X-Box - I stood for about an hour waiting for the PS2, but lost out on that. Instead, I walked into Target after they opened on opening day, picked up an X-Box, got a free stool with my X-Box, went to work for the day, came home, played Halo & Gotham Racing! Nintendo Wii - Suckered into another game system. I didn't think I was going to get this until I played Wii Sports... then I realized how much fun it was. Then the fun wore out (after a year or so, but still fun). Microsoft X-Box 360 - My most current system.
I currently still have my X-Box, X-Box-360, Dreamcast, 3DO, Wii, & Nintendo 64 all hooked up to a television in my house
