    Do any of you here recall what songs by your favorite artists have been remade from the original genre into another?

    Take, for example, Whitney Houston's 1992 #1 "I Will Always Love You": Originally a country-and-western song recorded in 1973 by Dolly Parton, Houston's version is remade into her usual slick R&B groove, with help from Canadian super-producer David Foster (Chicago).

    Then, there's another #1 cover song that started out as belonging to another genre: "Blinded by the Light." A #1 hit for Manfred Mann's Earth Band in February 1977, this prog-rock hit was originally a folk-rock song written by Bruce Springsteen dating from 1973 (his version is available on his debut album from that year, Greetings from Asbury Park).

            		 Bob Dylan's Knockin On Heaven's Door has been re-done by seemingly everybody but it was pretty big with Guns N' Roses in the 90's

            also All Along The Watchtower was Jimi Hendrix's only number one hit and it was also a Bob Dylan Cover

              you know I've always heard that version in Goodfellas and for some reason I assumed it was the Talking Heads

                              It was also covered by Tina Turner on her album Private Dancer. :) My mother still has that casette tape in very good condition. :)

                                I was saddened to hear this was a cover song, Naked Eye's 1983 masterpiece "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me".

                                It was written as an r&b song in the 1960's and recorded by Sandie Shaw and later by Dionne Warwick.

                                    		 The Smashing Pumpkins did a song called "Landslide", and then it was later redone by The Dixie Chicks. I think that's one of those songs that anybody can redo.

                                        		 But one song that may be dishonorable as a cover may be Faith Hill's version of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart."
