Any cassette tape collectors on here?
I took apart a lot of cassettes last year as they were no longer being used, but I managed to keep a few including those high fidelity Wee-Sing tapes from the 1980s!

I have quite a few in storage at the moment (Well actually, they're my mom's, but they still mine in a sense as I do listen to them more then my mom).

Also, I'm glad that the troll hasn't struck on this part of the site. Are you?

I still have a small amount of cassette tapes, a walkman and my stereo has a tape deck and recorder. Someday I might make a 90 minute mixtape for old timesake. It's always annoyed me that you can't get a 90 minute or longer cd-r unless you burn in data or mp3 setting.

I haven't bought a commercial release cassette new or used in a good while. The last one I got was Bob Evans' autobiography as a book on tape.

I have a couple of rare tapes I've held on to like the Who's Two's Missing, which is the second volume of a rarities collection they put out in the 80's. I've also got the Stooges' Raw Power with the original David Bowie mix which doesn't often show up on cassette. I've have some cassettes from the early 80's back when they used to print the song titles on the front cover; Grace Slick's Dreams and Pete Townshend's Empty Glass. Those are both from 1980.

I remember last year I nicked a Kenny Rogers tape from my Grandma's house.
I can't think of anything worth putting as a signature.

A few $2 shops, particularly Cunningham's, sell sealed cassette tapes!
Recently, I went to a Cunnos and bought 'Music From A Galaxy Far, Far Away', which is the music from the Star Wars movies performed by the Imperial Symphony Orchestra and the cassette was dated 1999.

This thread made me get out my remaining cassette collection. If people's collections aren't too large to list off it'd be neat to see in more detail what tapes people have. Here's mine:

              AC/DC - High Voltage
Jon Anderson - Animation (features Jack Bruce and Simon Philips)
The Beatles - White Album (self recorded off vinyl with added 1968 Beatles tracks)
              Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Roger Daltrey - Under a Raging Moon (includes bonus track not on the vinyl version)
Roger Daltrey & Rick Wakeman - Lisztomania OST
The Doors - In Concert (2 tape set in a slipcase)
Robert Evans - The Kid Stays in the Picture audio book
              Marvin Gaye - Greatest Hits
Jimi Hendrix - Essential Jimi Hendrix Vol 2
John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band (I found this one at the drug store near my family's cottage in their cd and tape bin. It's the last thing I expected to find there. Plastic Ono Band is a pretty intense album)
John Lennon - Live in NYC
              Men at Work - Cargo
Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper - Root Hog or Die
Monty Python - The Final Ripoff (2 tape best of)
              Nirvana - Unplugged in NYC
The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
              Grace Slick - Dreams
              The Stooges - Raw Power
              Pete Townshend - Empty Glass
The Who - Who's Better Who's Best (includes hard to find single edit of Won't Get Fooled Again)
              The Who - Two's Missing (Who's Missing Volume 2)
              Neil Young - Harvest
Frank Zappa & Pierre Boulez - The Perfect Stranger (I got this at Sam the Record Man back in 2003, they had a whole bin full of sealed copies selling for $1 each)
              Various - Wayne's World OST
Various - Wayne's World: The Basement Tapes (assorted hard rock)
Various - Zabriskie Point OST (includes rare Pink Floyd tracks)

I have kept probably about 10 cassette tapes from when I was young, including a blank Barbie cassette tape that my mother taped my voice on when I was 5. I have also kept an old walkman to listen to them on the rare occasions.

I have some mix tapes I made from when I was in school as well as a couple commercial tapes that my parents still have. Also, a couple of tapes I'd recorded from the radio from my my last full year of high school, as well as one from 2008. Not classic, though, if you talk about my homemade cassette tape collection.

I'm starting to get in it a little. One of my siblings collects them... I don't know if they still do though.

I used to have more cassettes when I was younger and for a while it was the only way to get new music for free (sitting in front of the radio all afternoon with the cassette player on record with the tape paused until you hear a song you actually like) unless you had DSL or a T1 line and Napster (wow...I think I may be starting to show my age a little bit). My family had dial-up for about 8 years...yeesh...and then we started getting cable high speed with our cable plan. Cassette was also the only way I was allowed to listen to Korn and Limp Bizkit in my house for a long time. I used to go to the library and get the albums on CD and dub them onto cassette tape because I wasn't allowed to buy them. The first Korn album I actually bought was "Life Is Peachy" used when I was 18.

I used to collect a lot of them. When I threw out my old cassette player, most of my tapes went as well. Very bad idea...A lot of those could cost a lot if I got them as CDs. Too late now...

I had over hundreds of tapes last year, but I threw them out.

Now I have twenty tapes, a Sony tape Walk Man and a Crown boombox.
