I remember one time I saw the "Laugh-In" reruns, it had the rainbow SFM logo with just the morse code beeps and no voiceover announcer saying "Distributed by SFM television" or something like that. It is now called SFM Entertainment. I remember the first SFM logo was used at the end on the short-lived "New Mickey Mouse Club" back in 1977 where the voiceover says "An SFM Television Production". Here is a description from KRS Logos:
SFM
Logo: On a black background are white outlines to the letters "sfm" (though the "M" is a capital one despite being shorter than the "f" Each letter is then filled with a rainbow pattern of colors. All but the "M" are filled from the top. The "M" is filled starting at its left.
Variants:
1. One has the word "ENTERTAINMENT" underneath the SFM logo. There is no announcer in this one, and sometimes a copyright will appear as well.
2. An announcer variation has been found on the movie "Boystown". In it, he says, "Distributed by the SFM Television Division of the SFM Media Corporation"
3. There was a music variation found on episodes of "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors." It has seven dreamy, synthesized notes for the theme.
FX: The letters being filled.
Music: A series of morse code-like beeps. Sometimes, an announcer will say, "Distributed by the SFM Entertainment Division of SFM Media Corporation."
Availability: Uncommon. Currently seen on reruns of "Care Bears" on Toon Disney and "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" on Trio.
Scare Factor: Some people were creeped out by the "spooky" announcer. Some might also be spooked out by the dark nature and lack of "real" text. |
