For me my favorite memory of that "game" i wanted so bad was when my Dad bought me Mega Man 3.

Story goes like this..My Dad gets up one Saturday morning (day before my birthday).. Says he's going to the store for milk. 2 hours pass... Now i loved Mega Man 2 and played it countless hours.

So my Dad comes in the house.. Calls me over.. Says so what would you like for your Birthday? I said without thinking "Mega Man 3!"..

Dad says, oh yeah? How big of a hug would you give me if i got that game for you?

I gave my Dad the biggest bear hug my little 7 year old body could.

And two seconds later out of his coat pocket came Mega Man 3.

And off i went storming downstairs to play my new game.

    Favorite Memory of ALL-Time.

Thought i'd share... Anyone else have any special memories of games that they got?

For me, it was Mega Man 1. I saved my allowance for a month to get it. I was equally obsessed with Mega Man as a kid, and loved 2,3, & 4, but had a really hard time finding the first one. This was in 92 or 93, and it was already an old game. I finally spotted it in a Toys-R-Us in Frederick MD, where my older brother went for martial arts lessons. I'd go along with him and my dad every week, and beg my dad to take me to Toys-R-Us so I could stare at it through the glass.

When my dad bought a 2nd hand Mega Drive with a bunch of games for me. It was a utter surprise, he called me into the kitchen and pointed at it. It was a huge leap from the Atari ST XD

I remember I wanted RC Pro Ram badly.
When I got older I wanted Street Fighter 2 for SNES. I would dream about playing the arcade hit at home.
The same went with Mortal Kombat Trilogy for N64.

I got a NES for Christmas one year but only got Startropics with it... as much as I like killing monsters with yo-yos, the game that I really wanted was Crystalis. My parents finally bought me this game for Easter; I usually didn't get presents for Easter, but I think they didn't want to hear me whine for the 2 months until my B-Day. If only I could still feel the happiness that I felt that day....

Final Fantasy for the NES. My parents gave it to me on my birthday shortly after it was released and I remember going to Burger King (that's where I wanted to go) afterwards. I took the two maps that came with the game inside with me and tried to unfold them while eating drippy burgers.

Looking back, I think I should have just kept them at home.

A Game, I got lost of them, but I think the game I wanted the most that took the most heck to get was Super Mario Bros. 3!

I got started on that game as I had played 2 (USA), 1, and had only heard about 3, so I rented it from Blockbuster video (anyone remember those days, when you could rent NES carts, and it was a big deal because nobody else had rented out games before). Needless to say, I was hooked!

Anyway, months pass, and mom keeps on telling me that I can't have Super Mario Bros. 3 because they were asking $59.99 for it at most stores (charge what the traffic'll bear you know). So I waited, waited, and waited.....

Then came my birthday, where I got to go to the Peachtree Mall and pick my own present, and I ended up getting that game as the ONLY gift for my birthday, that's all I wanted, one little $60 NES game. I had a hard time picking anything else out because I wanted to play SMB3 so bad on my own cartridge. . Crazy how a little piece of plastic with ROM chips in it can make an 8 year old's day.

I remember eating Chic-Fil-A afterward and reading the Manual in the middle of the Peachtree Mall. THat was one rockin' day. Got many memories of the days afteward playing that NES cart after watching Super Mario Bros. 3 and Captain N on the family channel.

That is such a cool story, psyko_99 :D

Mine was Final Fantasy X. I got it for Easter, and our school had off for Spring Break for like 2 weeks. Nothin but FFX all day every day I would play from 8:30AM to 8 at night. My friend Kim would call me and while she'd be talking to me, I'd be non-responsive (usually I'm very outgoing and talkative and stuff) so she'd be like "...you still playin that game huh?" I like bowed to my mom when I found it in my Easter basket... yo that game is so damn fun..... I can't get past this one part though been bothering me for so long now ugh :x

Same story when I got Donkey Kong Country 2, but I was more excited about FFX. I was very excited when I got Separation Anxiety too but I didn't know about it, I got it after I had an operation when I was little, but it's one of the best SNES and Spider-Man games ever.

Another story: For my birthday, my grandma took me to Toys R Us. Every time we'd go in the past, I always played Star Wars Racer whenever I could. At the time I didn't have an N64. When she took me to Toys R us that day, she got me the N64 that came with Star Wars Racer (my N64 is black). It was a total surprise! It was so cool!

                      AND HOW COULD I FORGET:
                      STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT
                      Christmas 2004
Nothing but spending day in day out blastin stormies and rebels and such. But that game also increased an unnerving fear of Darth Vader. I played this religiously until Christmas 2005 when I got Battlefront II.

Yeah, it's one of my happiest and favorite memories from my childhood.

Many games and presents have followed, but Mega Man 3 will always stand as one of my all-time favorite presents.

Oh yeah and i agree with you 100%, FFX Rocks! What a great game.

FFX-2 on the other hand...... 8)

for me, it was that GLORIOUS day that the Nintendo 64 was released. I had reserved it at my local Toys 'R' Us several months earlier, and could not wait till that day in Sept. '96 for when it came out!
Doc.....are you telling me that this sucker is NUCLEAR?!

                            good stuff.

Anyway, several games did this to me, Namely Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy X, Zeldas, those things. :D

My best moment was the day when I got N64 as birthday present when I was 9 years old (I played Super Mario 64 all the time). Then the next christmas when I got Lylat Wars (StarFox 64) and my brother got Diddy Kong Racing, I was so overjoyed and excited to get home and play these games.

Then there were times when I accomplished some games(Lylat Wars, Super Mario, Diddy Kong Racing, Legend of Zelda:OoT) and I felt so happy and proud of myself 8)

I remember back when all I wanted for Christmas was Sonic Blast 3-D...We had gone to Disney World that year, and they had a huge Sonic Sega thing hooked up there (I guess as a promotion) for the game, and my parents had to pry me from the game controller!

So I begged them, literally begged them, for that game, and on Christmas morning we opened all the presents and that wasn't one of them. I was kind of bummed out, but them my mother reached behind her seat and pulled out one more present...which was Sonic Blast 3-D! I was so happy!

                                Romania black :D

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My dad was on a trip out of town and just happened to run across it (back in the days before you could check every other day for the release date of a game). He asked if I wanted ninja turtles or California Games, another one of my favorites. Being the fanboy I was, I jumped at TMNT and as soon as I could get my hands on it I was calling friends over to gloat. Four hours later, I was pissed at how hard it was and regretted not getting California Games.

And of course SF2. I bought an SNES exclusively for SF2--if I had known it would be on Genesis a year later, I wouldn't have bothered. The system and game were supposed to be a birthday present, but like all kids I knew where the presents were hidden and promptly at 1 a.m. (to prove I had some self control) I crept into my parents' room to liberate it. My friend and I stayed up playing it until about 8 a.m.

Mine was actually the other day....There have been many happy purchases but the other day I went into a sweetshop and found that they had a LTD edition Final Fantasy 4 Gameboy Micro and game. The game isn't released here yet and the gameboy itself won't hit these shores. Needless to say that when my girlfriend bought it for me to give me for my birthday I was beyond extaticly happy and told all my friends and went really hyper.

On my birthday (forgot which one) my dad called me and my brother and 2 sisters to his room. He said it was already time to open presents. I went through them, a few cartoon tapes, couple other little things. But then my dad pulled out an N64 box wrapped up. I tore that mother open, and there it was.........Banjo-Kazooie. I hugged everyone and fired up that game and played until my brain turned to mush.

For me it was when my parents bought King's Quest III: To Heir is Human. We had just gotten a new EGA card and monitor for the x286. I can remember going crazy over it in Crown Books when they actually agreed to buy it. It rained that weekend, so it was the perfect excuse to stay glued to the PC. Cool game.

FFVIII was the game I got for cristmas, when I opened it I saw the four incredible disks. I ran to the PS1, but my mom needed ginger for cookies so I had to leave the house for an hour.
