I spent a good portion of the 80's and early 90's collecting with my dad. As far as the oldest one: Classics Illustrated The Golden Fleece (1938). Picked it up with some other oldies at an antique store for a few bucks thinking I found something of actual value.

I loved comics but I didn't like comic heroes. I mostly collected TV show comics like the Simpsons, Itchy & Scratchy, ren & Stimpy, Radioactive man (lots of simpsons comics!) and a few others. I got Spiderman every once in a while.
I have some old spiderman comics, and richie rich, and casper but they are in poor condition that my father once had.

No joke. Fortunately, I've still got my collection stored in their mylars and still in overall mint condition. Got quite a few gems. :)

I think my most valuable comic is Star Wars #1 from 1977, the first printing with 30c on the cover. The later printings had an updated price of 35c, so the 30c cover is worth more. I got it in a bunch of Star Wars comics from eBay; I don't think the seller knew it was a rare issue.

I don't really collect comics for their 'value' or rarity, however. I only buy comics that I want to read. I do store them in bags and boards afterwards, of course, but I don't care about keeping them AAAAAA++++++ mint. The idea of comics as collectables really annoys me; it nearly destroyed the industry in the '90s.

Yeah, I never much had a need to buy 30 copies of each issue I collected in hopes of cashing in big. One copy to read and store carefully was good enough. '92 was when I stopped completely, but I've recently started buying again last year after discovering comic scan hubs.

I want to check out the Duck Tales comics. As for recent stuff, I loved the Sojourn series. The artwork was amazing.

I also have M.A.S.K., Transformers/GI Joe crossover series, Thundercats (Ho!), and some 80's Spiderman comics.

My oldest book is the first issue of New Mutants from 1983.

I don't have too many old books unless they are reprinted in trades like the Essential Marvel books.

I can remember yrs ago when my family was about to move we had a yard sale a few days before. My dad put his comic book collection in the yard sale. I can't remember what all he had but they were all from the 50's early 60's. I wish he kept em I would of liked to of gone through em growing up and even now.
