    Hi,

What do you all think of the Ohio Players' 1976 #1 hit "Love Rollercoaster"?

The song was the subject of an urban myth: that a woman pictured for the song's parent album's cover shoot was screaming after being shot to death by the band's manager. The title of the album is called Honey.

Supposedly Ester Cordet was screaming because the honey drizzled on her stuck like super glue as she attempted to break free from it, which in the end had ruined her skin, and it was that which led her to sue the band and management which prompted the group's manager to shoot her, for which her scream got onto the recording.

The true story behind the scream, as explained by drummer Jimmy "Diamond" Williams:
"There is a part in the song where there's a breakdown. It's guitars and it's right before the second verse and Billy Beck does one of those inhaling-type screeches like Minnie Riperton did to reach her high note or Mariah Carey does to go octaves above. The DJ made this crack and it swept the country. People were asking us, 'Did you kill this chick in the studio?' The band took a vow of silence because you sell more records that way."

yeah i heard about this myth aswell, the other one is that she was stabbed in the studio during the recording of the song because she threatened to sue the band for the damage to her skin. Ester Cordet is still very much alive and without skin deformations so I wouldn't put too much stock into the urban legend, it is a pretty cool story though

I'm more familiar with Red Hot Chili Peppers' version.

This myth is pretty funny. It's also used in the 1997 horror film Urban Lengend.
              Oh yeah?
