I was in a club in Fremantle last night, when Salt n' Pepper came on... y'know, it's funny how wild people go for nostalgia, even when the music isn't all that great! Later in another bar, Reef came on with 'Put your hands on...' That got a similar reaction from me!

You can be sure you'll get that same madness for Chesney Hawks I am the one and only , who is peforming at Eros- the worst nightclub in the world! It wasn't even a good song but if people don't remember it when it came out, they love it!

It wasn't was it? Actually in a bar later that night, we left just as Sweet Child o' Mine came on.... that was hard.

A couple nights ago, I was listening to the Wayne's World Soundtrack in my car with my mom and brother. Most of the songs aren't that good, but it's still fun, 'cause it reminds me of what life was like back then. I've been listening to a lot of 80's Aerosmith too (Permanent Vacation/Pump) for the same reason.

I know what you mean. I think people realize how much better it is compared to today's music and they get excited.

Actually, music doesn't get worse. You just get older. Now you know why older folks can't relate to new music! :D

But yeah, call me one of the people who loves older songs more than the new.

Edit: Oh, and "The One and Only" is one of the first songs I searched for when Napster was huge in 2000. I was looking for pretty rare songs that few people remembered. "How Do You Talk to An Angel" by The Heights was another (it was also the theme song to the show "The Heights" that lasted like two episodes).

I thought I was having a problem not liking a lot of new music.

And then THE ultimate 80s party song....."come on Eileen!"

I think there is a ten year gap per good decade of Music starting from the 60s!
                      60s great

                      80s great
                      90s crap
00s I'm starting to enjoy the music at the moment!

Actually "Jump" was when Van Halen started to suck. All synthy and shit. Hot for Teacher, PANAMA.... thats real Van Halen. And no Van Haggar as Joe Dirt says.

                        That's just an opinion.

My opinion is that "Diamond" David Lee Roth made Van Halen start to suck and that's why his ass was booted out of the band. It was Dave's idea for the entire album of Diver Down. Dave hated the fact that Eddie's fame overshadowed his, and his ideas for the band were pretty crappy.

You may not like the Synthesizers, but it was an experiment. All bands grow, change, and experiment. Their synths only lasted a few albums. Even so, I like them.

A lot of people hate the Hagar era. But they're not very informed. David Lee Roth would have driven that band into the ground (Diver Down was the beginnings of his vision for the future of the band). If you want proof, just look at his career after he left the band. David Lee Who?

I like all the eras of Van Halen. From the opening riff to Runnin' With the Devil off their first album, to even "Without You" (and yes, I think Gary Cherone was a *good* choice for the band.... but it was a *bad* choice to make songs revolve around lyrics instead of the music).

You're entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to mine. Just make sure you have all the facts. :D

Oh good for you, Mr. Budnick.

I stated something without a hint of anger or anything, and you fly off the handle as if I offended your precious little bubble filled with childhood memory fantasies.

You stated something as fact, I stated something else. The only thing I said that was directed squarely at you was me saying that was your opinion.

You crack me up, my friend. You really do. It's funny how people get so worked up.

I hope you didn't pop any blood vessels over my account. But, please feel free to continue to entertain me. I had respect for your posts, but you're really starting to make me wonder if I should re-evaluate them, if this is how you generally respond to things.

Hope you have a gloriously wonderful happy-fun day!

Wow, I didn't realize till I read it. Yeah that did sound angry.

Anyway, no childhood bubbles burst or blodd vessels for that matter. No worries there. The gist of my point is there, I just seem to went agro on it. My bad, and apologies jomero.

                                Jump was awful though

Mr. Jager, my respect for you has been restored.

I was seriously hoping you weren't the type of person who responds in anger, and continues to get angry when someone like me comes along and REALLY starts laying into them (oh, how those trolls hate the hell out of me!).

Apology accepted. We'll just agree to disagree on the Van Halen thing. One thing I think we can both agree on is that Eddie kicks ass. Though I personally prefer Joe Satriani (and Budnick preferred Steve Vai, one of Joe's friends and students, in a "Salute Your Shorts" episode... where he gave the girlfriend his guitar pick necklace).
