Well it's been a long time comeing but our local Block Buster is finaly closing down on the 18th of this month. We made our last rentals yesterday; The Possession, The Last Exorcism 2, Jay and Bob get old, and some chick flick called upside down something, can't even remember the name...

Wow, surprised it lasted that long! Our last Blockbuster closed more than 4 years ago! Odd though in another area they opened one up way late in the game and it closed shortly after.

We just had a Blockbuster close here a couple months ago. Good riddance.

I don't know, I guess I find myself a little saddened by it's closing, which is sort of ridiculous since we haven't rented movies in years; when I pulled out my membership card it looked like it had been composting in the back of my wallet lol.

This recent trip to Block Buster reminded me of the fun of browsing the isles with my family and friends, trying to pick out something good to watch, and the annoyance of having your movie all rented out ( me to the clerk " has anyone returned ..... yet?";). Unlike online where you can preview the trailers, the video store made you take chances; sometimes the box looked great, but the movie would turn out to be terrible! But then afterwards you could laugh and talk crap about how bad it was.

In hind sight I feel that videos stores were great and I hate to see them die off.

I agree with everything you said about video stores. But Blockbuster diluted the experience and drove the independent stores that I loved growing up, where you could have a really unique experience, out of business. Just like Borders did to book stores. When they close, it's just desserts imo.

Yeah, when I was younger we had some pretty good mom and pops video stores. I think their greatest appeal to my generation was their abundance of arcade machines. They always had the best arcades and I would spend a small fortune of my parents loose change playing them. Friends would gather there, we would compete in fight games like street fighter two, or watch somebody beat the whole game, it was great.

So I lost a bet. Now I have to drink Smirnoff Whipped Cream Vodka all night. My new Rasputin RIS has to wait.

I played Synthesia, then looked at some Touhou music. Then I came on here.

Well I had about 9 family members down from N.Y. for the last two weeks. We had a great time, they ran me ragged lol. They're leaving this morning, everything will go back to normal.

I was watching Summerslam '89. I'm not even going to bother with Summerslam 2013. And I was working out some more on our exercise bike. I feel like such a beefcake. "BEEFCAKE!!!!!"
