I had to buy one of these for the flight to Oz; to help stave off insanity.

I was pleasantly surprised - although hours and hours of MarioKart DS did dull it's impact after a while....

So addictive I quit playing it in three days. Yes, I played it online, too.

If you've played the Gamecube version, you will HATE this one. It's too much of the same thing. It just becomes a tiresome slog through watering your damn turnip and picking weeds.

I recommend Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, in which is the best game out for the DS right now. I`m still wating for Super Princess Peach to come out.

I believe the feeling of "something's missing" you get from Mario Kart DS is the lack of freeplay Battle Mode. You can play Battle Mode if you're playing against another local DS, but it's a shame they excluded it from the WiFi Connection :(. We used to play Battle Mode for hours.
Speaking of which, Crash Team Racing (Playstation) has a good battle mode too.
