LBD_Nytetrayn 5 years 3 months ago Posts: 17	If I'm not mistaken, this is my first post on these forums, so perhaps a short introduction is in order. My name, at least in several places online, is LBD "Nytetrayn." I am a longtime reader of RetroJunk, though it is only recently that I was so inclined to join, so that I could reply to one article in particular. And while I do enjoy much of the subject matter on the site, I must admit: sometimes, it appears that a little help could be used in order to fix various mistakes of spelling and grammatical natures. Hence, I would like to offer my services as a voluntary editor for RetroJunk writers. The use of the term "voluntary" is two-fold: I am freely volunteering my services for anyone who wishes to make use of them, and the use of them is also strictly voluntary on the part of the writers as well. I have discussed the matter with Vertex, and we agree that given the nature of the site, having someone go in behind the writers, fixing their work at this point would probably not do. I do not seek to change the content of the articles; merely to help make sure that simple mistakes are caught and corrected before an article is posted. If you would like me to look it over, fire a PM my way, and I will give you my e-mail address so that you can pass along a copy of your work. Also, if I happen to notice something which seems to be factually incorrect, I will alert you to it. That's not a guarantee that I will help research an article while checking (I would be doing this in my free time, after all), but if I should notice something by happenstance, I will bring it to the writer's attention so that they can correct it or elaborate upon it. And while I could write here, too (and I'm still considering doing something, not sure just yet), I'd rather help others polish their game until it shines. The site has plenty of writers with lots of great subject matter and numerous anecdotes to pad things out and make them even more interesting. I would like to contribute something else, something a little different from the norm, a little more unique. I want to help bring out the best in what this site has. Who knows? It could even lead to something lucrative somewhere down the line for someone.

I'll gladly write something for the site if afforded the opportunity, but those are few and far in between. Editing, however, is a fairly simple and quick matter for me by comparison.

If I'm not mistaken, my article ("Gotham Cityscape" finally sent you over the edge to register for this site I think you are tackling a hard pressed topic here. Many users are growing tired of the lackadaisical work done on most submitted articles. I for one cringe while reading most. A simple cut and paste job into Word could solve most of these problems, but the effort falls far below par. I hope you'll convince many of these users into taking full advantage of your services. saintluticriss 5 years 2 months ago Posts: 190	Meh, I just think most have the mindset that this is a "just for fun" website. Nothing serious about it. Just a bunch of guys reminiscing about the good old days when things were more "mystical, magical". And a lot of the users are actually teenagers who just love the Retro lifestyle. My younger brothers absolutely loved that show "I love the 80's" on VH1, but they were born in 1995 and 1996! They love diggin' in my DVD collection for things back in the late 70's and early 80's. And they occasionally come here for movie ideas on Friday nights. Now they don't have a profile here, but I wouldn't be surprised if some other middle school kids did. I mean, what *isn't* there to love about Retro?

LBD_Nytetrayn 5 years 2 months ago Posts: 17	If that is what they wish, that's entirely up to them. Personally, I've always tried to hold to "if you're going to do something, do it right," and merely wish to offer a helping hand to those who might feel the same way, but wish to have a helping hand. Of course, my reason for offering is the same as theirs for writing: I love retro stuff. In my case, I like to see it well-represented; some of these posts would be great to show around to other people, but at the same time, I worry that such frequent mistakes could be more harmful than helpful.

surfingthechaos 5 years 2 months ago Posts: 20	Hey LBD_Nytetrayn I have an article that I have already submitted for approval. If they will allow you to take a look at it, I would have no problem with you fixing any glaring grammatical errors. I did double check my work, but I'm not always sure about every little grammar rule.
