Apparently Cameron had rights to the name "Avatar" for a movie for nearly a decade and when they decided to make a movie based on the TV Show Cameron took them to court so they couldn't use Avatar.

It's gonna be awesome! and I'll be among the first people to see James Cameron's Avatar when it will finally come out at midnight before December 18, 2009. Get ready for James Cameron's Avatar! So, have anyone else seen the extended preview for Avatar in IMAX 3D yet or so?

Yea the environment and attention to background details looks good and all....but it sorta looks like a cookie-cutter plot to me. Stop the big bad war that's going on while savin the girl that the hero will undoubtedly make out with at some point of the movie.... It's kinda meh to me. I hope they learned from Final Fantasy: Spirits Within that it's not all about good looks. If the story isn't there, the movie WILL suffer big time.

BUT...that just maybe a reason for him not to have so much story into this little project. This whole 'Wait 10 years then make my triumphant comeback' plan is working perfectly!!! Muhahahahaha!" Naive thinking, yes, but hey, it happens...
