I finally found a copy of Transformers: The Movie on DVD at Half Price Books the other day. No, its not the fancy 20th anniversary edition, but it was a neat and lucky find mostly because both versions of the movie have been out of print for five years now and they're fetching some hefty prices for a new or used copy on Amazon. The edition I got was the single disc bare bones edition released by Kid Rhino in 2000 and for being an 11 year old DVD, its not in too bad of shape. I also saved five bucks at Half Price Books because this movie was only $8 there as opposed to the going rate of $13 used and $86 new on Amazon. I also saved on shipping but then again I don't shop online as much as I just use it as a price guide of sorts.
As far as the movie goes, I've probably been a serious Transformers fan since the first new movie came out and I've probably been an even bigger fan since I started collecting a few of the toys (mostly Legend Class figures and a few Deluxe figures and Reissues) and the second movie came out a couple years ago. My favorite Autobots are obviously Prime, Bumblebee, and Ironhide and my favorite Decepticons are Megs, Starscream, and Soundwave, even if it were only for his kickass voice, but he's way cooler than that.
It was also during this time that I gave the original animated movie a view and I was blown away by the voice overs and the thrilling soundtrack as well as the eye popping visuals for the time the movie was released. Being a Transformers fan, I had to eventually pick up this movie.
