You know, something like the monster under your bed or the most common, the monster in the closet. You know, simple childhood fears like that. What were yours.

            Heights and deep water.

I hated going in water where you couldn't see the bottom, one time I jumped into a lake near where I lived and hit a tree that was about 6 feet under the water. It scared the hell outta me! O_o :shudder:

I've gotten over heights but I'm still a bit leary of jumping into bodies of water where I can't see the bottom.

I am still scared of spiders and swiming in water that I can't see and the ocean. I almost drowned in ocean city when I was 9. The waves took my legs out from under me and then burried my face in the sand. I couldn't get up, I thought I was gonna die. My cousin Jim pulled me out and I had went from ankle high water to water up to my waist. It was real scary.

Can't remember exactly what I was afraid of, but I can remember that my parents use to find me sleeping in our upstairs hallway (where the lights were on) at night.

However, I did have nightmares about a grandfather clock we had being alive and stealing me from my bedroom in the middle of the night.

Maybe the two were related, who knows.

as a child, i have always had a fear of clowns. as an adult, that fear turned to abject hatred.

hmm I was afraid of the dark. Nightlights were a must for me. I was also afraid of seeing dead bodies or the cemetary. I still get a creepy feeling to this day. I've never been to a funeral..

My childhood fear was sleeping by myself in my room........I would always sleep with my parents because I thought that if someone was to break in that none of my brothers or my parents wouldn't hear me scream and I would die and no one would know!!!!! And after we moved into a 2 story house my fear heightened.... and now I still have that fear, but I've learned how to overcome!!

Closets. As a child, I was terrified of my closet at night. Every time the home would settle, causing a knocking sound, my highly overactive imagination would kick in. The end result was always the same...me shaking my mother awake in despair. I suppose my dad teasing me about the monster tapping behind the door didn't help much either.

I was scared of being abducted by aliens. It came from the hype around UFO's and that frickin' Time Life Books commercial for the series "Mysteries of the Unknown" or something.

I could never sleep for a period of time when I was 10 because aliens were supposed to come and collect you at night when you were asleep.
