This subject has probably been covered many times, but due to a recent rash of articles that have fallen onto the back page, there's something I want to cover with all you fledgling article writers out there: Stop writing about how much you hate modern Nick compared to the Nick cartoons you watched in the 90s.
Here's the truth: You just don't "get it" anymore. Those channels show TV shows that are popular with the kids. These kids, despite your belief, are not "missing out." These are the shows that they will be nostalgic about in fifteen years.
Those of us from the 1970s and 1980s thought the kids from the 90s were "missing out" on the great shows we watched. We didn't get it either. And I always thought it was funny that my parents felt the same way about the stuff I was watching in the 70s/80s.
Look, if you want to write an article praising a show from the 90s (like "The Rugrats," for example), then by all means, praise it. Give us pictures from the show, tell us about your favorite episodes and tell us why you loved it so much.
Do not descend into rants or lead off your article telling everyone how much TV sucks today. Not all of us think it sucks, and the kids sure don't. All you end up doing is buying yourself a couple of negative votes on your trip to the back page, where very few people will ever read your ranting.
And speaking of rants, this one is coming to an end. Look upon this as writing advice.
