    		 Both sports are tough in their own right but my vote goes to the NHL simply because of the schedule. The Stanley Cup champions play between 98 and 110 games a year. Discuss.

        		 NFL players can't even play more then a game a week. NHL = Tougher. Take note I'm Canadian and don't get the appeal of football at all....much like many Americans and hockey I guess...

          		 I am a big fan of both sports and have watched both intently since i was a child.

          I would say they are about equal. Hockey is more grueling but football is more punishing.

                		 Hockey makes you weary...the season is 82 games of intensity.
                Thats not to say they don't practice every day in Football, but a Football team has 22-24 Starters, and a 54 man roster.
                Hockey has a 20 man roster. The NHL is more individual effort, and so it demands more toughness out of its players.

                  More like colliding and slamming into the ground...but close enough.

                  And Salty's right. Hockey vs. Football is a Team vs. Individual argument, so it's kind of hard to say which one is tougher.
