Did Michael Jackson go too soon?

From the words of Marc Malkin: He never seemed to want to grow up--so was his passing a blessing in disguise?

I sort of agree with Mr. Malkin, although I believe that M.J. really "died" soon after going solo for the first time circa 1972 (while he was at the height of his Jackson 5 fame), when he decided he (secretly) used hormones to keep his voice at its childhood register, rather than allowing his voice to drop to normally lower registers to synchronize with that of his older brothers.

He then "died" again circa 1987, when his dermatologist discovered his skin was suffering from what is known as vitiligo, a depigmentation condition which causes black skin to go white.

How many more Michael Jackson threads do we need?

Here's a better question: When was the last time Michael Jackson was relevant?

During the Thriller era, before his vitiligo condition started to get the better of him.

Exactly. I hate how all of these news networks, talk shows, ect are acting like he just put an album out last year. (Yeah, I know he was planning on putting a new one out. But that doesn't change the fact that his last album was out over a decade ago.) They're acting all broken up and personally devastated about his death. It just feels so fake considering how so many talk shows did in fact make jokes about him. This is why I ask when was the last time he was relevant? Because its seems to me, that to many people he was a washed up joke. (And no, that wasn't a bash against him. Just an observation about how he was viewed.)

That's not true, Bad (1988 ) and Black and White (1991) were both huge hits.
