    Hope someone remembers this.

Back in 1994 I did not have cable. Imagine my surprise on a Saturday night when I saw on free TV a music special featuring all music videos. There was no host, no voice-overs and no introductions. Just one music video after another.

But the catch was these were not MTV music videos. They were "art house" videos set to music from the 1980's. One video stuck in my memory and you'll have to use your imagination for this:

As the video for "Voices Carry" from 'Til Tuesday ends the TV screen goes black.

Slowly an image appears on the TV screen, a skull in a pool of melted wax. Then the melted wax begins to crawl up the skull as if forming a face without eyes. As the skull's facial features form, the opening notes to the song "Sweet Dreams" begin.

This sequence forms one of the most memorable music moments I've ever experienced on television. I've never forgotton what I saw and heard, but what show it was I may never know.

So try this, look at the skull face and imagine my story as you listen to the first minute of this video of Harry Potter with the song "Sweet Dreams":

Before the digital switch, we used to be able to receive MTV over-the-air. Not sure why, but it was interesting when we didn't have cable.

Wow! Sounds like fun receiving MTV over the air. Funny how I never saw music videos unless I went to a friends house. I expected to see cool stuff, but was surprised how awful many MTV videos were. When I mentioned that show I saw from 1994, nobody wanted to hear about it. Maybe it was a local Seattle show but it looked like a network broadcast to me.
