    Hi,

Who here knows all about the album art for the Rolling Stones' 1978 release, Some Girls, (which bore their last U.S. #1 single, "Miss You")?

The 1st version of the album artwork contained depictions of several famous women as diverse as Lucille Ball, Judy Garland and Raquel Welch; but this got the group and their management into trouble with the women (and the estates of the deceased). Because of that, the 1st album art is now quite rare and valuable.

Several more album artwork designs would ensue (mainly owing to country of origin; as some issues had the four colors look duller), the second version featuring another die-cast cover with faces of the bandmembers posing as the women, replete with a disclaimer reading "PLEASE PARDON OUR APPEARANCE - COVER UNDER RECONSTRUCTION."

However, the album artwork that catches my eyes the most is the one with the album's title in red letters, the album in light pastel colors and the women are depicted as drawn by cartoonists (instead of from real life photographs). It was this version that was used for the first CD issue of the album (Columbia Records CK 40449, from 1987).

The first pressing is more common than people think. Alot of pressings circulated before the recall. The most I've seen an original release copy being sold for was $12, so even then still cheaper than buying a new cd copy of one of the reissues.
